WASHINGTON — The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin granting work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and have since led law-abiding lives.
The policy change, described to The Associated Press by two senior administration officials, will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants who have lived in fear of deportation. It also bypasses Congress and partially achieves the goals of the so-called DREAM Act, a long-sought but never enacted plan to establish a path toward citizenship for young people who came to the United States illegally but who have attended college or served in the military.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano was to announce the new policy Friday, one week before President Barack Obama plans to address the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials’ annual conference in Orlando, Fla. Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney is scheduled to speak to the group on Thursday.
Under the administration plan, illegal immigrants will be immune from deportation if they were brought to the United States before they turned 16 and are younger than 30, have been in the country for at least five continuous years, have no criminal history, graduated from a U.S. high school or earned a GED, or served in the military. They also can apply for a work permit that will be good for two years with no limits on how many times it can be renewed. The officials who described the plan spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss it in advance of the official announcement.

Hope you are right not2. My wife is from Peru and called this move months ago; that Obama would get desperate and try to legalize all the illegals.
This household is furious and I have already called and e-mailed Bill Nelson and asked him to speak out against Obama. He is a worthless zombie though.
And yes, the wife is a full-fledged US citizen the correct, legal way. We were patient for years and paid the fees as expected. And she is an awesome, conservative woman that hates RINO’s.
This move by Obama should cost him Florida as their calculations will backfire.

Oh by all means give AMNESTY to all the illegal aliens who have served in the US military...
and explain to me how they were accepted into an institution which requires proof of US citizenship or legal residence ...(a Green Card)...
BTW the day they turned 18 they cease to be so called law abiding...
They were now breaking the law all on their own...

Why would they have the high ground? Where have they set the example to follow? Where not both Reagan and Bush for and pushed for amnesty? If this stands, the GOP thru demographics and spite are finished.

In some countries citizens wake up to learn that one individual has, by decree, changed major national policy. Evidently the United States of America has become one of those countries.
My 79 year old Mother, Betty Geissler, died Feb 4th. She is the one who started me in FR. She registered after I showed her how but never made a post. Read FR hourly for many years. She was a prayer warrior before there were prayer warriors. As much as I miss her I am glad she didn’t have to witness this idiot taking our country down the toilet. It would have driven her mad. I know she is rolling over in her grave as we speak. I am waiting in EAGER anticipation to a response from Congress and eventually SCOTUS. I really dislike Romney.
Between Obama/Pannetta forcing DOD to celibrate Gay Pride Month and this executive order version of the failed Dream Act legislation, and Romney being a coward (more likely traitor) on both, I find the whole thing discouraging.

This evil admin is doing everything they can to destroy this country. They must be stopped. These cowardly RINO’s in Washington better stop this insanity before the futures of our children are destroyed.
Again the administration adopts a plan with no details. Those eligible have to graduate high school, which in some, if not may cases is a free education paid for at the hands of local taxpayers. Will they be eligible for government and state grants, loans and scholarships for college? Will they have to pay in state or foreign tuition? How do they join the military without U.S. documentation? What will the military requirements be? If they join the military (2 year enlistment with Honorable Discharge) will they be eligible for the same GI Bill that our government funds for American soldiers. Again, policy presented without the details and this policy should be detailed precisely to the administrations intent so there is no question or legal debate.
Then herd them all right over to the nearest New Acorn office to register them all as Democrats.
