Obama administration to offer immunity to up to 800,000 illegals

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin granting work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and have since led law-abiding lives.

The policy change, described to The Associated Press by two senior administration officials, will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants who have lived in fear of deportation. It also bypasses Congress and partially achieves the goals of the so-called DREAM Act, a long-sought but never enacted plan to establish a path toward citizenship for young people who came to the United States illegally but who have attended college or served in the military.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano was to announce the new policy Friday, one week before President Barack Obama plans to address the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials’ annual conference in Orlando, Fla. Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney is scheduled to speak to the group on Thursday.

Under the administration plan, illegal immigrants will be immune from deportation if they were brought to the United States before they turned 16 and are younger than 30, have been in the country for at least five continuous years, have no criminal history, graduated from a U.S. high school or earned a GED, or served in the military. They also can apply for a work permit that will be good for two years with no limits on how many times it can be renewed. The officials who described the plan spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss it in advance of the official announcement.

Amnesty has never worked. It did not work in the 1980s and it will not work now. All this will do is speed up our transition to being a third world hispanic hole a la Mexico. Take one look at demographic trends and you’ll see where we are headed. The hispanization of America will destroy the Republican party and make us even more of a big government corrupt welfare state. One need only look at hispanic voting trends and their love of welfare to know that.

This is the exact meme of the regime. Tough on illegals the week before and then its Christmas the week after. Just more triangulation. Being on all sides of all issues all the time,Axel learned it from Bubba.

This is bait for Romney. He better think carefully before being hooked.

I agree -- it's bait for Romney and entire GOP. Obama is counting on his audacity causing a big push-back from Romney/GOP, which he can then use to demonize them as racist and against the poor, innocent children who did nothing wrong, etc. Very sly and perhaps very effective... time will tell. Hope our side can find a way to turn it against Obama instead of being trapped by it.

Yep, it’s not constitutional, since this is Congress’ domain

“The Supreme Court has ruled that the Congressional power to regulate naturalization, from Article 1, Section 8, includes the power to regulate immigration (see, for example, Hampton v. Mow Sun Wong, 426 U.S. 88 [1976]).”

RE :”“As I recall this is the Dream Act which Obama couldnt get the votes for.”.......
That’s exactly why he did this. Stroke of the pen, law of the land...kinda cool, eh?

Like most of what he does this rallies his liberal/progressive base behind him. What they really want is for him to demand a massive stimulus package bigger than the 2009 one.

But notice he sees little political drawback in doing this. Romney is unlikely to say anything and in response to the few congressmen who object Obama will claim it is ‘same old, same old’ political attacks.

America is sleeping while obama burns down the country.

Millions of American citizens and legal immigrants are unemployed. Youth unemployment is over 50%. Obama's solution is to increase the population of unemployed.

Giving American jobs to criminal aliens.

It will be pretty easy to turn this against the Dear Leader. All we have to do is interview a couple of union guys and see just how much they like giving over their “formerly” high paying jobs to younger inexperienced and non-union illegals.

That certainly covers it.

The scam continues——they whine they only violate our borders “to get a better life.”

They then establish multiple identities w/ forged/faked documents (which the impoverished illegals purchase for several thousand dollars each), they ride the gravy train with every identity to bilk the US of billions.

Surprise......now we “find” (/snix) they have a dedicated political agenda, multiple legal groups, many hyphenated pressure groups, lobbyists, and are highly organized.

They’re not even US citizens but the self-serving, self-entitled scum are ordering around our govt to get what they want.

Obama's plan says ....illegals will be immune from deportation if they have no criminal history....

WRT their legal status----did they get forged/faked Social Security numbers that were used to establish multiple identities in order to ride the US gravy train?

ICE's "documents and benefits fraud task force" found a common practice among "impoverished" illegals is to buy several forged/faked identities for several thousand dollars each----the illegal then votes and rides the US gravy train under several names.

<><> Jose Madrigal---the Washington state rapist--- had some 30 identities. And probably voted and collected US benefits under every single identity.

<><> Another illegal used multiple identites to bilk UI systems of some $3.5 million.

=========================================

US Dept of the Treasury Says Illegal Aliens Collecting Billions in Tax Credits According to the US Dept of Treasury’s Inspector General, more than $4.2 billion in additional child credits were paid out in 2010 to illegal immigrants. In 2005, the pay outs totaled $924 million. This program allows low income earners to claim a $1,000 per child credit.

$20 billion EITC is estimated to have been paid out to these cunning "impoverished" illegals. Most of them are collecting over and over again-----using multiple identities-----falsifying official apps---claiming children they do not have and/or falsely stating kids are back in their homelands.

REFERENCE March 8, 2012 KENNER, La. -- Kenner police arrested illegal Marvin Baca who sold false W-2 forms to another illegal immigrant for $1,500. Baca sold fraudulent W-2 forms for $1,500 to other Hispanics here illegally.

Police said that on one of the forged W-2 forms had a SS no of a person living in Virginia. Police said illegal Hispanics purchase fictitious W-2 forms and file false tax returns with the government to receive EITC refunds. Baca was charged with one count of ID theft and two counts of forgery.

A decent GOP candidate would be able to link high unemployment with this move by Obama. And maybe Romney will do that, but he really seems to agree with Obama on this (now that the primaries are over).

I don’t think there’s a collective full Republican pair in all of W., D. C. these days.

Where’s the outrage? It’s ho hum for 99% of those jackasses.

My congressman says:

(ROUND ROCK, TX) – President Barak Obama’s plan to unilaterally grant amnesty to an estimated 800,000 illegal immigrants is in violation of the U.S. Constitution’s separation of powers and is not legally valid, according to House Republican Conference Secretary John Carter (TX31).

“The President today announced his intention to break the law,” says Carter. “Article I Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution reads, ‘The Congress shall have the Power to…establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization.’ Those laws are on the books, the President has refused to enforce them, and has now announced he will substitute his own personal law over that of the lawfully elected Representatives of the American people.”

Well, I think he’s right. While we’re at it, our law enforcement agencies and immigration officers need to be enforcing the laws on our books. They don’t have a right to pick and choose which laws they enforce.

The Justice Department must comply with the laws of our nation. If it doesn’t then it’s director, managers, and staff should either be prosecuted or dismissed with prejudice, unable to work in law enforcement again. They would have acted against their oaths of office, and be unfit to serve in any law enforcement capacity again.

Large companies should be raided on a fairly regular basis, if they have been known to be violators. We have laws on our books to deal with that.

We should stop dead in it’s tracks, any program that gives goods or services to foreign nationals and their children.

Let them repatriate themselves back to their home nation.

RE :”A decent GOP candidate would be able to link high unemployment with this move by Obama. And maybe Romney will do that, but he really seems to agree with Obama on this (now that the primaries are over).

Yep, watching the pathetic display on the Republican/RINO amnesty channel it was clear that they were upset that Obama made this move before they had the chance to get credit for doing something similar. (an example was Rove) In addition Romney sounded disappointed that Obama didn't go far enough, that this was not permanent nor was it path to citizenship.

Romney is utterly contemptible because he used his anti-amnesty position as a club to beat Perry and Newt over the head with to win the primary. I posted that he was lying at the time. If he gets in the WH he will be trouble.

Today after watching the amnesty Republicans Acting critical of Obama while agreeing with him at the same time I can't blame him for smoking them out on this issue. Losers.

It's why I am not supporting another Republican for president that is not a real conservative. This includes Romney.

The Bush's were enough, the last one was over the top...I'm not buying the BS and lies anymore.

It's real simply, if a Republican wants my vote, he's stand up to the podium and tell all, he'll secure our borders, aggressively deport illegal aliens, go after businesses with criminal charges that knowingly hire them, or resign his GD position if he is found wavering and or not pursing this policy every single day of his administration

I want to hear a candidate say: Once and for all I will end this never ending violent invasion and totally disrespect of our law and rules by millions of Mexicans and others, or I will resign the presidency and not seek reelection.

In those plain, simple words.

This is not complex.

I fully appreciate your point of view, It's just as valid as those who say they must vote for ABBO no matter what. Someone phony like Romney in the WH will cause troubles beyond imagination just by being the head of the only alternative party to the Dems. That is why I was not rooting for anyone in 2008.

Back when the primary was going on I was reminding folks here that who-ever the nominee is he will be terrified of Hispanic voters, and since Republicans have no other strategy to deal with them they will try to play both sides on amnesty.

These young adults who are affected by Obama’s move certainly appear to be victims, so Obama made this move with little risk. The real problem is who we give citizenship and the vote. Even legal immigration has been a disaster the past 15 years because most of them or their children tend to get snared by the lure of big government free cheese. And notice they don't oppose the Homo agenda.

Absolutely. It's all part of plan to bring America down to the level of most other countries. We've become a immigration dumping ground, regardless of millions of unemployed or under employed Americans.
