Senate candidate Cruz pockets big bucks across U.S. (Texas alert)

If money talks in politics, conservative activists are shouting that the hotly contested U.S. Senate runoff between conservative insurgent Ted Cruz and Austin powerhouse David Dewhurst is the most important Republican race in the country.

Federal Election Commission records analyzed by the Houston Chronicle indicate Cruz, the former Texas solicitor general who has targeted his own party's establishment in a noisy nomination battle, has raked in more money from conservative super PACs than any other Senate candidate in the nation: $3.8 million.

While Dewhurst, the state's lieutenant governor and the early favorite, has raised more than 90 percent of his campaign cash in Texas, Cruz has pocketed 35 percent of his proceeds from outside the state. The tea party favorite from Houston has received more than $1.5 million from more than 1,000 donors outside the Lone Star State.

Aiding Cruz's quest for campaign cash is a long list of endorsements from national conservative superstars, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, Fox TV host Sean Hannity, former presidential candidate Rick Santorum and former Reagan administration Attorney General Ed Meese.

This is good news. I’ve heard that the conservative grass roots in Texas is doing good work for the Cruz campaign on the ground. Every vote counts, so your best is needed.

“well this will awaken the the Dewhurst paid campaign staff on FR ...they’ll soon arrive to remind us that Cruz is a LAWYER ... A LAWYER!!!”

As far as I can tell, it hasn’t worked so far.

...and if that line doesn’t work, they’ll remind us that he’s HISPANIC and therefore supports Illegals...can’t have that now

...so we need the RINO instead (they won’t quite say that, but we know what they want).

Well-put, this is more than just another primary.

Two more paragraphs from the piece...

Aiding Cruz's quest for campaign cash is a long list of endorsements from national conservative superstars, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, Fox TV host Sean Hannity, former presidential candidate Rick Santorum and former Reagan administration Attorney General Ed Meese.

Like conservative Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Cruz attracts donations because he is a “very articulate spokesman for small government and a distinct, consistent ideology,” said Jim Granato, director of the University of Houston's Hobby Center for Public Policy.

Dewhurst has a LOT more money, and the backing of the Establishment, but he's going to lose in the coming tsunami of those outraged at mealy-mouthed 'GOP' insiders, all traitors to the conservative cause.

Why????

No one can tell me why.

Dewhurst is a good, proven conservative.

All I know about Cruz is that he is a lawyer. Well, so was that dude who cheated on a dying wife and was just cleared.

Apparently, Cruz has convinced some tea party folks that he will tear the senate a new one, but he hasn’t convinced me.

Dewhurst will not lose. He will win easily. He will get most of the votes from the other two guys.

why would you be so easily influenced as to believe Dewhurst is a mealy-mouthed rino, when he so obviously is not?

Yes that is of prime importance.

I have heard Mr. Cruz speak, and IMO, he’s the real deal.

We need to clean out the trash in government that has over-stayed it’s welcome.

TERM LIMITS! TERM LIMITS! TERM LIMITS! is the next thing we need to work on..........

David Dewhurst has pledged to a personal term limit if elected.

Cruz refused to do so.

Dewhurst sounds like McCain, a rich man who thinks he can use his own money to buy a senate seat.

Granted, it’s McCain’s beer heiress wife who is the money bags in the family, as well as being an Arizonan. McCain is just her husband and a Beltway denizen. He only cares about Arizona in that the senate seat is cheaper here than elsewhere.

In the Age of Deception, it’s nearly impossible to intuit the truth.

You have Palin endorsing McCain, endorsing Perry, then endorsing Cruz. You have McCain endorsing Zero while he ran against him, people who endorsed Romney: Nikki Haley more than a year ago, and everybody since. You have Newt endorsing Perry and vice-versa, you have Cain annihilating Perry, then endorsing Newt, then Perry endorsing Romney. And Perry endorsing Dewhurst. And Chuck Norris and Ted Nugent endorsing Romney.

I endorse Cruz and Walker.
