BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Just before 2:30pm Friday afternoon, deputies were dispatched to investigate a report of a home invasion on Jupiter Drive in Pinson.

The homeowner told deputies that he had noticed two men acting suspiciously in front of his home and watching him while he worked in his garage. When he went to put some tools in his truck, one of the men approached him wearing a mask and pointing a gun. A second armed man then entered the house.

The homeowner drew his own hand gun, pointed it at the suspect and fired.

Both got into a car and fled leaving their guns behind. Deputies found a 19-year-old suspect in the emergency room at St. Vicent East Hospital being treated. While depuites were at the hospital, the second suspect returned with another man.

These two were taken into custody and are being interviewed by detectives.

An armed, masked man who approaches you is justification most juries will accept.

Now, why would you want to get into a car with a robber that you just shot? And why would you leave your gun behind?

Can no one write a coherent story anymore?

Because it’s too difficult to write “Both suspects got into...” when you can simply write “Both got into....”? I agree with you that this is simply poor writing.

Brevity at the expense of clarity—a very common behavior among our professional “writers” now.

Jefferson County deputies responded to the report of a home invasion in the 100 block of Jupiter Drive in Pinson around 2:30 p.m. June 15. A woman at the residence called police to report the invasion after locking herself in the bathroom.

Once deputies arrived at the scene, they were told the suspects had fled, possibly in a gray Altima or Mercedes. Three victims at the home were not hurt.

The victims told deputies that the husband at the residence had been working in his garage when he noticed two men acting suspiciously in front of his home, according to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Christian. When the homeowner took some tools from his garage to his truck parked on the road, one of the suspects approached him and pointed a gun at him, Christian said.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a mask over his face. The second suspect entered the house through the open garage door and approached the wife, who was in the master bathroom, and pointed a gun at her.

The husband saw an opportunity to react, grabbed his 9mm handgun which he had on him, and pointed it toward the suspect, Christian said. That suspect then yelled for the second suspect to come outside. The second suspect ran out of the house and the husband fired one shot at them both. A bullet struck one of the suspects. Both men fled the scene, leaving behind two handguns and a ball cap.

Not long after the suspects fled, deputies were told that a gunshot victim was being treated at St. Vincent’s East ER. Birmingham police officers found the home invasion suspect inside the hospital.

Christian says the injured suspect, who is 19 years old, was dropped off by the second suspect. While deputies were still investigating at the hospital, the second suspect returned with another man. The two men were taken into custody and are being interviewed by detectives, Christian said.

The suspect’s injuries from the gunshot wound were serious but not life-threatening, Christians said.

The suspects’ names have not yet been released, pending formal charges.

Since most “journalists” are liberals, we are seeing the results of the poor education liberals get in the public schools.

I always try to be a little cautious by just posting links instead of the story to avoid any copyright worries.

I do the same and you are correct for mentioning this. For the record, I did not copy all of the story.

“The suspect’s injuries from the gunshot wound were serious but not life-threatening”

Result of a ‘wonder-nine’ instead of a .45, apparently.
