Well, at least some country still seems to be showing interest in space. Maybe another space-race would be a good thing - kick us out of our complacency for starters.

Witty comment seen elsewhere:

“China’s first female astronaut prepares for historic space docking on flight with two men. I’m fairly certain I’ve seen this video already.”

Ok, I've have to ask. I'm serious sorta.

Do you think any of these missions have produced the first members of the .........100 mile high club ?

Who wouldn't want to be the first?

They should broadcast a big “Thank You” to Bill Clinton - without him they never would have been able to successfully launch ...

Wearing their flight suits and sitting behind glass, they waved and smiled.

Just smile and wave comrades - Just smile and wave. China's contribution to the militarization of space is underway.

"We will obey orders, listen to directions and be calm; and co-ordinate together to successfully complete China's first manned rendezvous and docking mission," said Commander Jing Haipeng.

That's correct! Following orders is job one for a good soldier. I hope they're ordered to shoot some video footage.... There are worse things they could be ordered to shoot.

A lot of unserious comments here, which is fine, there are some good jokes to be made. I just hope everyone realizes how truly serious this is. Our modern military and economy is massively reliant on satellites which could be destroyed from space easier than shooting fish in a barrel. And China would never actually have to do it. Just having the ability to criple us will give them total leverage.

“first mission to Chinese space-station”

Gotta hand it to the Chinese, they didn’t put up their space station, then name it the “International Space Station”.

We paid over 80%, probably more like 90% of the cost of our space station, and then named it the “International Space Station”.

Then we neglected to replace the shuttle, and discontinued our manned space program.

Do our leaders have a screw loose or what? You get one guess, and the ‘or what’ option was scratched.

I mean, where can you find great leaders like this? We’re so fricken lucky. /s

The CEO of SpaceX said that if the last launch had not went off successfully that it would have been the end of SpaceX.

So if SpaceX had several astronauts on board a failed mission. Could SpaceX survive the litigation and the public outcry? Probably not.

The Chinese Shenzhou-9 manned mission LAUNCHES the same day our X-37B space plane LANDS at Vandenberg.. Hmmmmm.. Coincidental timing, and on who's part; Theirs or ours?
