Polls: Steelman Maintains Lead in Senate Race

U.S. Senate candidate Sarah Steelman is leading all Republican candidates in the most recent statewide poll. On June 7, the national Rasmussen poll of 500 likely voters found Steelman up 12 points on Sen. Claire McCaskill.

Steelman was the guest of honor Thursday at a neighborhood carry-in dinner party in Moberly. Steelman's supporters shared kind words with the candidate and enjoyed a relaxed evening of food and conversation.

Steelman said her platform focuses on a balanced budget amendment and capping the size of government. She said the government needs to stay out of the lives of businesses and families while getting the economy moving again.

Steelman said there is a distinct contrast between McCaskill and her philosophy of government.

"The difference between me and McCaskill is that she believes the government has the answer to everything and that more government spending or more government regulation are going to solve all our problems in this country. I believe the opposite. I believe in protecting individual liberty and freedom and we need to get government out of people's lives," Steelman said.

Pray, please name one conservative Democrat (no fair naming Zell Miller, as he is retired, and is shunned by the Democrat Party anyway). Conservative Democrat is an oxymoron.

Missouri Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill’s three leading Republican challengers all now earn 50% or more of the vote in match ups with her.

In other words....

In today’s polls, the “Claire-bear” is getting stuffed, mounted and displayed by all three Republican challengers. After the election, “Claire-bear” will be displayed at the Wasilla museum of natural history.

You’re right, there are only a few who call themselves conservative but are not in any kind of reality. At this time the only one of those I can even think of is the Senator from West Virginia, I think his name is Mancin.

“the next Senate will not only be led by a Republican majority but that Republican caucus could well be led by conservatives.”

I would love nothing more than to have someone like DeMint oust McConnell (and a conservative replace Boehner) but have had my hopes dashed too many times to get them too high now.

But you are right, sending a few new troops like Mourdock, Cruz, Neumann, Mandel, Steelman, etc. would get us that much closer.

MO has moved ahead of ND and MT in the order of likely pickups.

As I said last week, McCaskill might as well change her first name to Blanche.
