The Bradenton Police Department will hold a Father's Day gun buyback event on Sunday.
From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., participants who bring in firearms will receive gift cards redeemable at any Bealls Department Store, or Bealls Outlet Store.
The buyback locations will be the parking lot at 1500 block of Martin Luther King Avenue (9th Avenue) East and the parking lot in the 2000 block of North Tamiami Trail (14th Street) West in Bradenton.
Assault rifles and automatic weapons will be worth $75; semi-automatic handguns and rifles $50; and revolvers and non-semi-automatic rifles $25.
All firearms should be transported in a secure container, preferably the trunk of a vehicle. Weapons should be empty of all ammunition, and wrapped in a paper bag or newspaper.
If you are unable to unload or are uncertain if your firearms are loaded or not, please inform police upon arrival.
Ammunition or illegal narcotics may be turned in with no questions asked, but no gift cards will be issued for those items, police said.
Those buy back prices remind me of what your gun is worth if you try to trade it at a gun store. LOL.
Ah another rifles to reefs program.
Fathers day gun buyback, what a joyous occasion for these fathers of many unwed mother of fatherless children. A chance to cash in your old weapon and use the cash to purchse a better one. Liberal progressive gun control at it’s best. Link it to fathers day celebration.
I was thinking the same thing! Park across the street and start bidding.
Seems like this would quite naturally increase the very crime they say they want to avoid.
“Assault rifles and automatic weapons will be worth $75; semi-automatic handguns and rifles $50; and revolvers and non-semi-automatic rifles $25.”
What a rip off.
Heck, I forgot that it was Fathers' Day today. (Been stuck at work)
I may have to get the vintage S&W Model 60 that I've been eyeing to round out my snubnose collection.
Bealls is such a crappy store. Keep the gun. Parts of Bradenton are still beautiful, but quickly being over run by dirt bags. The police are too busy getting it on with hookers to do anything about the crime. Oh and they used to sit outside my son’s christian school at dismissal time and ticket kids who started backing up their cars before their seat belts were on or their radios were too loud. They didn’t want to go to any of the low income schools where kids were actually fighting, stabbing and shooting each other.
$$ - Buying Guns For Cash - $$
We Beat Their Prices For Good Condition Guns"Assault" Rifles - up to $100
Semi-automatic handguns and rifles - up to $75
Revolvers and other rifles - up to $50.
Many of the people turning in these guns are widows who only want to get them out of the house. You could even end up with a WWII war trophy Luger.
Some wit should suggest that the police should instead give coupons for the purchase of Skittles; Arizona Iced Tea - Watermelon Flavor; and DM cough syrup, the ingredients of the ‘Lean’ variant of ‘Purple Drank’, the favored intoxicating drink of southern rappers.

That, and maybe a coupon for a free Target store brand hoodie, with a big store logo on the front and back.
Also, it seems to me there is a certain element that might be more attracted to a cash sale as opposed to payment by credit card. Even moreso in a place with Bradenton's demographics.
They'll be lined up around the block for that one!

Godspeed.
what next, "testicle buyback?"
It will be an EPIC FAIL...
Those homies aren't given up their guns....
Grandma may turn in her husbands old rusty revolver that has been sitting on the top of the closet since 1972...
Huh? Are the local polizei trying to claim that they sold some large number of guns to the public? One cannot buy "back" that which one did not give or sell originally.
This is a leftist scam to disarm citizens, going by a dishonest and deceitful name. Leftist compulsively lie about everything.
