Excessive civility in the face of a national crisis is tantamount to indifference. The Bush family dynasty exemplifies the patrician attitude of holding oneself above the fray after fulfilling one's pre-ordained obligation to society. This may have been fine in the halcyon days of the past, when America's future seemed limitless and those answering to the call of duty were for the most part honorable people. With Barack Obama at the helm, that is no longer the case.
Never in American history has the nation been saddled with such an unethical and ideologically rigid administration, whose ultimate goal is to tear apart the fabric of society and to recast the United States into the socialist model originally formulated in Italy of the 1920s and '30s.
The guiding principle of this system is socialism with a capitalistic veneer -- thus leaving an appearance of a free market while centralized government agencies plan all economic and societal activity as well as control all aspects of manufacturing, commerce, banking, health care, energy, and agriculture. This same statist government, in order to maintain high employment levels and public support of those in power, initiates massive public-works programs and spending and makes certain that a vast majority of the citizenry is dependent on government largess, all financed by steep taxes, excessive borrowing, and fiat money-creation.

GWB managed to make himself the gift to Dems that Carter was to Republicans for 15 years. Now few remember Carter but many remember GWB. “Don't elect a Republican because he will be like Bush” is a safe line.

Our real problem is that the only alternative party to Dems has selected a real liberal Romney. Team Romney : Romney, Rove, Grahamnesty and McCain were blanketing the Sunday shows yesterday talking about how we need ‘immigration reform’. Romney's 'self deportation' is history having lied his way through the primaries.
And you absolutely know that Obama will NOT shut-up once he is out of office.

We're fortunate though in how stupid and inane he is, he still thinks the country swoons when he speaks of "fairness" while he plays golf and goes on vacation, or that the country loves him for demonizing job producers while there are no jobs.

We have crossed the Rubicon and there’s no going back. What is the ultimate outcome will be determined by the wisdom gained by what we are going through now. I, however, believe that since the 1970’s the ‘Progressives’ have done a bang up job dissolving our nation’s Constitution.

I would rather this thread be a Bambi bashing thread than one to bash Bush indiscriminately, but that was a great sentence that deserves a repeat. The "new tone" was never a good idea.
The article is mostly about the dangerous evils of the current administration, and he points them out well. We need to remember how bad this bunch really is.

How about an article on Zero’s hell-bent drive to surpass Greece in national debt as a percentage of gross domestic product? That would be time well spent.
Blaming Bush for Obama’s transcendent and titanic failure is like blaming the wife of an abusive husband. Knock it off.

The challenge former President Obama will have is being heard over the noise pollution eminating from the Clintons.
And the Clintons not only have a much bigger stake in being heard (Chelsea’s political career) they’re every bit as self-centered as Obama, jealous of others and have significantly better connections in the media.
Watching them try to vie for top dog status within the Liberal media elite is going to be fascinating.

It’s not up to him at all, and like some have said, it might be better if he continued to keep quiet as he always has.

I tend to agree with this, but realistically, Bush is not going to do it. I don't think it was so much patrician breeding that kept him from fighting back as perhaps a feeling that it was not dignified for a president to do so, and also that it would give ammo to those who said the GOP was divisive (although the attackers and dividers were, as always, the Dems).
However, whatever the reason, it seemed that he never defended himself against attacks from either the right or the left. I remember some pretty awful things were said about him on FR!
The result of his silence was indeed a propaganda coup for the Dems. Bush actually was a very good president in a very difficult time, but he was subject to the rage of the Dems from the very first day simply for having won and maybe it just wore him down.
