This girl obviously took one look in the mirror and realized that “the good life” wasn't going to be handed to hear on a silver platter. So instead of trying to improve her mind, develop a fetching personality, and make as much of her unfortunate looks as possible she's playing the “I reject everything” game.

I think this is the most common path to lesbianism. A lot of these women are simply to lazy and to averse to risk to jump into the “competitive marketplace” and fight for the man of their dreams. So they purposefully go the other way and pretend to have no interest in men so their looks and lack of refinement aren't held against them.

It's the “easy” and “safe” route...in the view of someone with an underdeveloped mind.
