in lieu of my forced inability to maintain employment

should say something like "in lieu of the moneys I would have obtained if it had not been for my forced inability to maintain employment" -- as taken literally it is a nonsense statement. Which might be an "inadvertent" mistake, but courts do care, even appellate ones.

I’m sorry, but you’re really grasping at straws now in trying to go after his grammar. He’s obviously not the smartest guy on the block, but it’s quite obvious from that statement that money is going towards living AND legal expenses.

"I have created a Paypal account solely linked on this website as I would like to provide an avenue to thank my supporters personally and ensure that any funds provided are used only for living expenses and legal defense..."

What part of those words escape your understanding. Furthermore those funds so raised are currently in a Trust account for his living expenses and legal expenses. They couldn't be in that account if they had not originally been raised for those two purposes.
