While I often find myself aghast at President Obama's displays of socialist/progressive leanings, there are plenty of really hardcore liberals who apparently think that President Obama hasn't been progressive enough. Robert Unger --- a bigtime Brazilian politician and former professor of Barack Obama's at Harvard law, who also served as a frequent adviser to Obama in 2008 --- posted a video of himself detailing the reasons he thinks it's crucially important that President Obama not be voted into a second term. The mind reels:
Mr Unger, a prominent Brazilian politician and an adviser to Obama in 2008, said: "President Obama must be defeated in the coming election. He has failed to advance the progressive cause in the United States."
He adds: "He has spent trillions of dollars to rescue the moneyed interests and left workers and homeowners to their own devices."
His summary of the past four years is equally scathing: ‘Give the bond markets what they want, bail out the reckless so long as they are also rich, use fiscal and monetary stimulus to make up for the absence of any consequential broadening of economic and educational opportunity, sweeten the pill of disempowerment with a touch of tax fairness, even though the effect of any such tax reform is sure to be modest.’
Most of Mr Unger’s comments seem to be politically to the left of Mr Obama, but he insists that the Republicans would be no more destructive than the Democrats as ‘the risk of military adventurism’ would remain the same.
He also suggests that, despite their fierce rivalry, the Democrats’ agenda is little different to that of the Republicans, saying the party aims ‘to put a human face on the programme of its adversaries’.
Unger criticizes both political parties, but only insofar as the Democratic party is failing to restore itself “as the vehicle for the progressive alternative in the country.” To understand exactly what he means by that, here’s a money line: “Enlist finance in the service of the real economy rather than allowing it to serve itself.” …Yeah, that sounds eerily similar to legit central planning (slash indentured servitude) to me.
Apparently, Obama was always wary of becoming real “friends” with Unger, lest his sincere leftist leanings damage Obama’s political career, but good grief — who knows, if it weren’t for those darn obstructionist Republicans…
come on Mr Unger spill the beans
Why should I give one damn as to what a Brazilian socialist, who sits in his Harvard office and runs vanity political campaigns for Brazilian political offices, thinks about United States politics?
I’d rather hear Oscar Madison’s opinion
Harvard appears to be one of the most high profile Communist Cell Groups...
It should be closed down... it is a National Security Risk...
(then a good look at Columbia should be investigated)
** The FBI is a paper tiger..
I cannot account for 10 minutes of time so I'm pretty sure I was abducted.
But, seriously, people like this guy (people like Obama) are the enemies within.
Why don't they just go to a commie/marxist/statist country already established and let the rest of us - those who DO love America - the hell alone.
