The North Carolina high school teacher whose rant against a student who questioned President Obama went viral will keep her job.

The Salisbury Post reports that Tanya Dixon-Neely was suspended without pay, but that she will return to school next year. As a condition of her return, she reportedly will be required to start what was described as a "monitored growth plan."

Superintendent Judy Grissom said in a statement that the teacher fell short of the school system's standards, but expressed a desire to move on from the incident.

"While I remain deeply concerned about the performance documented in the recording of Ms. Dixon-Neely's classroom, I have concluded that she should have a chance to improve her teaching skills," Grissom reportedly said.

Superintendent Judy Grissom doesn’t give a rat’s patoot about the students or the taxpayers. She’s the one who should be fired.

I don't have a problem with this. People do dumb things at work and are disciplined and not fired all the time. Even jobs that aren't union. I know there are a lot who disagree with me on this one, but that's just what I think of the situation. It this was the latest offense in a run of similar things, then yeah, she should have been fired

I agree, this will be a nightmare for her. The “monitored growth plan” involves the principal, AP’s and other teachers dropping in at all times of the day. She will be walking on pins and needles afraid to have any discussions. Oh and the students will constantly try to get her into a heated discussion to trip her up.

At least people are aware of this teacher’s teaching tactics.
She knows she better walk the line now.

Her new teaching skills should also include a trip back to the classroom. Her grammar is horrific!

I am very divided on this because yes, most of the time people who make mistakes should be allowed to learn from them and continue on their careers.

But, we are talking about molding the very formative minds of teenagers and this woman can and will continue to infect these kids; that bothers me!

More importantly, she will have little to no respect from most of her students and that is a bad thing in a classroom. PERIOD!

Does a bear take a bodacious Obama in the woods?

Is the Pope Catholic?

Would this obviously imcompetent idiotess teacher be reinstated?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Heh!

Public schools - for when you want to lower the bar and have your children walk under it.

(imho) this decision smells of the threat of gunpowder toward this official allowing the return of this so-called educator.

I dont have a problem with this either. She had a leftist loony moment and got caught, but now has to be monitored like the child she is.

I knew it. You don’t fire a teacher just because she’s catastrophically ignorant (notice I put that first) and ideologically biased. Getting along with people like this is an important life skill for children - maybe more important than reading and math! - because there are so many of them and you can’t escape them.

If you want to scare the crap out of a school administrator, committee member or teacher, just say to them, “school vouchers are coming.” I actually stopped a committee member dead in his tracks —it was like a heart punch.

These joyous moments are token compensation for 12 years in the schoolag, but I’ll take what I can get.

Undoubtedly her fellow union members will be up in arms. She must be terrified.
