NHS doctors are prematurely ending the lives of thousands of elderly hospital patients because they are difficult to manage or to free up beds, a senior consultant claimed yesterday. Professor Patrick Pullicino said doctors had turned the use of a controversial ‘death pathway’ into the equivalent of euthanasia of the elderly. He claimed there was often a lack of clear evidence for initiating the Liverpool Care Pathway, a method of looking after terminally ill patients that is used in hospitals across the country. It is designed to come into force when doctors believe it is impossible for a patient to recover and death is imminent. It can include withdrawal of treatment – including the provision of water and nourishment by tube – and on average brings a patient to death in 33 hours.

If I know and let you kill yourself, then I have killed you. Do you really think that you can give people the "right" to kill people that they deem past fit to live, and they won't soon be killing others. Once many a human gets the taste of power over life and death, don't expect it all to stop where you think it should. Learn from Nazi Germany. They started out by aborting "undesirables", moved to killing the retarded and handicapped, moved onto killing gypsies and homosexuals, then Jews, and finally anyone who even remotely crossed the state. God said in The Bible, "Thou shalt not murder". That means ourselves or others. When you think that you have a right to kill yourself you are usurping God's right to decide in such matters. God has the right to decide life and death. Even a just war must be called for by God.

If you have ever worked with, or been close to someone who is dying you would realize that in those final months, days, and hours God is working in their soul in a unique and special way. He finalizes many things and often even gives the dying their final chance to get right with Him so that they do not spend eternity in the lake of fire. Death often is the process of getting ready to meet God. It is right for The LORD to have preeminence over these final things of the soul of a person. Also, these last months, and days allow those that love that person to say their goodbyes and come to terms with loosing their love one for the rest of their life on earth.
