Nothing personal, but do you really think that the parents in Onalaska, WA, were really out to lunch? Of course they were involved. Most likely they ‘knew everything’ about their precious local schools. They knew the teachers, probably even went to church with some of them. The parents went to PTAs conferences, did everything they were asked (I assume).
But none of that mattered. The parents never REALLY KNEW the teachers and administrators. They didn’t know where they came from, what they did in college (screwed around, drugs, abortions, etc.). No, the parents only got to know the part of the teachers that the teachers were willing to share with them...and today’s teachers know very well what to keep tucked away.
The bottom-line question is why do parents trust people that really are practically strangers answering to masters who come from the Seattle machine (in this case) to be the primary educators of their kids?
And then why are parents surprised and upset when these people take advantage of their opportunities?

Indeed, there are probably teachers and even parents out there who hate [Christian] morality that they would vindictively adopt this policy to shove it in the faces of those “uptight” parents who are “judgemental”.
But, I think mandating that teachers present lecture materials to parents firs would serve two purposes:
1.) It would (I think) embarrass and intimidate them to have to tell mature adults what they are going to say to unknowing and unprepared children and...
2.) Maybe, just maybe if they present a watered down version to the parents and then deviate, they could be fired and branded forever. Hopefully, never to be allowed in a classroom again.
Now that our government's socialist-entitlment schools have been utterly godless since the mid-60s why are we surprised that grandparents and parents haven't a clue about child discipline, and illegitimacy is zooming even among whites? The communists, especially Bill Ayers, are cheering!
One of the goals of the communist party was destruction of the family. Well!....Government schooling with great input from Dewey has been working hard at this for at least a century.
Compulsory and socialist-entitlement schooling was a progressive idea beginning in the mid-1800s. Progressives have always controlled curriculum development and teacher training. Dewey is one of the most famous.
By the way, Bill Ayers didn't get where he was without a LOT of communist and hard core socialist greasing the way. His mentors were from my father's generation, born 1913.
Communist Goals:
17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.” ( Now common in the government schools..and...homosexuals have already moved into positions of authority and influence in hiring of teachers.)
28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.” ( Children's most awake and alert hours are now spent in an utterly godless environment and even their homework is completely godless in its worldview, as well.Think of how many hours of a child's waking day that is! )
31) Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over. ( Now rampant in government schools across the nation.)
29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. ( Yep! We see many articles about how in our government schools the flag is not displayed, the pledge not said, and the Constitution ignored or taught that it is a “living document”.
30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.” ( Again, we see articles here on Free Republic where Rosa Parks gets three pages and the Founding Father either ignored or given a sentence or two.)
39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals. ( And...These social workers, guidance counselors, and psychologists are found in the government schools across the nation. )
40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce. Bingo! with sex ed, promotion of homosexuality as normal, hiring of gays, performances of “Vagina Monologues” etc.)
41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents. ( Has anyone noticed the expansion of free meals to now include dinner as well as breakfast, and the push for socialist-entitlment after school programs and now PreK for kids barely out of diapers.)
42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use [”]united force[”] to solve economic, political or social problems. ( We have had numerous articles her on Free Republic of government K-12 teachers putting children on prison gang buses ( oops! “school” buses) to attend rallies and protests for socialist causes.)
I wonder how many ministers have spouses that are teachers?
It would be the brave minister, indeed, who will speak out against the government schools. In my county the government school district is the single largest employer with the most employees and largest payroll! Think of the vendors and their employees that supply the socialist-entitlement schools. Hey! Even my dentist , physician, and physical therapist depend on the health insurance that school employees bring into their offices.
What minister is going to bite the hand that puts money in the collection plate?
