Romney says he will ‘replace and supersede’ Obama’s immigration plan

Mitt Romney criticized President Barack Obama's immigration plan on Thursday, saying that as president, he will "put in place my own long-term solution that will replace and supersede the President's temporary measure."

That plan is still vague, but it does not involve a path to legalization for any of the country's estimated 11 million illegal immigrants except for people who enlist in the military, according to a release from the campaign.

"As President, I won't settle for a stop-gap measure," he said during his speech to to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Annual Conference in Orlando, Fla. "I will work with Republicans and Democrats to find a long-term solution. I will prioritize measures that strengthen legal immigration and make it easier. And I will address the problem of illegal immigration in a civil but resolute manner."

In the speech, Romney said that he would make it easier for legal immigrants to bring their spouses and children to America, as well as beef up temporary work visas for low-skilled workers. He also reiterated that he thinks foreign students who get advanced degrees in America should be given green cards. Romney's immigration plan also includes a "high tech fence" for the border and a national, mandatory employment verification system that ensures employers do not hire illegal immigrants.

Look to Cut, Cap and Balance... boner and mcconman both were telling us every day that Cut, Cap and Balance was the only plan on the table... the entire time they were meeting in secret with reid, pelosi and obama on the super committe that slashed 500 billion dollars from our Defense Department and 500 Billion from Medicare. Read closely because it says implicitly that he will keep Obama’s order in place until congress gets a immigration bill to his desk, which given history could take a long while. Yet he doesnt want to explicitly admit he will keep Obama's order n place. He was asked 6 times on CBS about this on Sunday and refused to answer.

The GOP doesn't even try and pretend to care what Conservatives think anymore. I had somebody telling me that Romney was going to repeal Obama's EOs and would take a tough stance against illegals. Instead, Romney is just trying to let Obama's actions slide on through.

Romney WAS going to do all those things when he was running in the Republican primary, 'self deportation'..was the word he used.
Now that he is in the general election campaign he has little need for conservatives anymore, He is going for RINO’s,(who want amnesty anyway) , independents and Democrats.

Mittens is a global progressive who fancies himself smarter than everyone and standing on liberalism's moral high ground above the ignorant masses who cling to their guns and Bibles. I always say that a bad Republican POTUS can cause many problems that a Dem POTUS cant just by being a Republican.

Sure, many of Obama’s actions are enraging, but at least Republicans oppose them for the most part. But put a Republican/RINO in the WH and then you got him getting Republicans to vote for liberal stuff like amnesty and bailouts and banning light bulbs, and opposing the same things once a Dem takes office again.
