A Penny Saved Is a J.C. Penney Spurned [Penney's woes are warning to family-unfriendly companies]

J.C. Penney has lost its way--and in the process, its profits! "Is J.C. Penney trying to become GayC Penney?" ABC News is asking--and so are customers. In the last several months, the company once known for its Christian roots has undergone a radical transformation. It started last year, when J.C. Penney hired Ellen DeGeneres, a vocal proponent of same-sex "marriage," as its spokesperson.

The choice drew fire from several people who thought DeGeneres was a departure from the store's longstanding values. When organizations like American Family Association's One Million Moms complained, J.C. Penney's new president, Michael Francis, stubbornly dug in his heels. On Mothers' Day, the company shocked consumers with a blatant endorsement of homosexuality in an ad that featured two moms. The grassroots protested again. J.C. Penney responded with another same-sex ad for Father's Day. Underneath, the text read, "What makes Dad so cool? He's the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer, and hug giver--all rolled into one. Or two."

As Ford Motors will tell you, siding with radical homosexuals has its price. And in J.C. Penney's case, the cost is about $163 million. According to the Wall Street Journal, J.C. Penney's stock "has lost more than a third of its value since a disastrous earnings report in mid-May, when Penney's posted a $163 million loss and said sales fell 20% in the first three months of its fiscal year." CEO Ron Johnson also admitted that Father's Day sales were a bust. "Penney's shares fell 8.8% Tuesday to their lowest level in a year, [and] store traffic was down 10%."

Obviously, the company's far-Left approach is driving away shoppers--and its executives. Michael Francis was fired after just eight months on the job. Whether J.C. Penney will learn from its mistakes is yet to be seen. But its freefall should serve as a warning to other companies who are itching to jump on the same-sex bandwagon. Catering to homosexuals may earn you a pat on the back from the Human Rights Campaign, but in the long term, it's bad business. Americans want corporate neutrality in the culture wars, and when they don't find it, they'll go elsewhere--like my family has done with J.C. Penney. Shoppers are shrewd enough to know that speaking up is important--but sometimes what speaks the loudest is their wallets.

Let this be a cautionary tale to General Mills, Starbucks, and other corporations on the wrong side of the marriage war. This is a political wager that companies will lose. Even Target is putting its bulls-eye on traditional families by introducing a new line of same-sex merchandise. One hundred percent of the proceeds are dedicated to putting Christian adoption agencies out of business. If you haven't signed our petition protesting the company's "love is love" campaign, click here. Then, print out the flyer of protest and take it to your local store!

It’s the homosexual thing, hiring DeGenres as the face of Penny’s was too in your face for Americans that are conservative enough to decide to go to another store because of that kind of frontal attack by a business that depends on their family shopping.

When Florida Governor Sydney J Catts ran for office he came up with a classic campaign slogan.

He said “the common man of Florida has only 3 friends on earth. Jesus Christ, J.C. Penney, and Sidney J. Catts.”

He won the election and in case you are wondering, he was of Jewish ancestry but had converted to Christianity and became a Southern Baptist Minister.

You can still tell them you’re boycotting it. You don’t have to say that you didn’t shop there to begin with ;)

Seems we are in a death watch. The only question is do I get to collect unemployment when they close their doors?

“I believe in adherence to the Golden Rule, faith in God and the country. If I were a young man again, those would be my cardinal principles.”

What a shameful group of people that have steered this store away from the founders principles. I believe in Divine Intervention and this will get reversed in this country with the power of prayer... and a little boycotting!

“He won the election and in case you are wondering, he was of Jewish ancestry but had converted to Christianity”

Likewise the first Senator from the state of Florida was Hebrew Christian. His name was David Yulee Levy, but changed his name to David Levy Yulee. Per a book about Levy County, his grandfather was raised in a Moroccan harem.

David Levy built the first railroad across Florida from Cedar Key to Fernandina Beach. He was briefly imprisoned following the Civil War. His plantation was the last known location of the Confederate treasury, which had come to his plantation near Archer, Florida by rail.

Here is something interesting I learned about years ago:

http://www.penneyretirementcommunity.org/default2.asp?active_page_id=928

“Penney Retirement Community was founded by J. C. Penney in 1926 for Christian people whose lives had been devoted to Christian service: Pastors, missionaries, YMCA and YWCA workers, and Christian workers. All Christian denominations have been welcomed from the earliest days.”

I read once that J C Penney tithed 90 percent of his salary.

That is interesting. I think Sydney J. Catts had a similar story. His family owned a plantation in Alabama but lost everything due to their support of the Confederacy. They moved to DeFuniak Springs, Florida to start a new life.

Catts was also known for telling Washington that he was going to bring the Florida troops back home during WWI unless they started giving them supplies such as blankets. For some reason when the Florida guys got to training camp, they had no blankets or other supplies in a Northern camp.

My Grandfather was a friend of Catts. Grandaddy was the youngest man ever elected to the Florida Senate (age 18) until Doyle Conner later beat him by two months.

I wonder if Ellen DeGeneres has a contract set up where they cant fire her without a severe penalty. She should as we could see this coming a mile away. News about Penney's not being able to turn it around by gaying it up only surprises moronic libs.

I'm amazed that Penny's is still operating. They've been dead for so long I WONDER why they don't know it yet.
And, I wonder who she got to in Penny's to back her. Yuck. She makes me ill.

Homosexuality is SO abnormal. I wondered once just how many there were in the human race. All the literature states ABOUT the same numbers. There are about 1 to 1 1/2% of the human race is homosexual. That one to one and a half percent includes homo/bi/transsexuals--all the abnormal sexual deviants.
That's not a whole lot of people but their "voice" is so loud, strident and listened to that there SEEMS to be more.

What nauseates me is the Hollywierd component that always drools at the mention of this deviancy.

Is there some reason their marketing department failed to realize the company would suffer if they abandoned their typical customers in favor of a group consisting of about 2-3 percent of the population?

Where do you get this 99% ignorance? Pulled that out of where? Source?

Anyone who reads electronic news sources caught wind of it. I used to shop JCP all the time--4 decades. Not anymore. I must be among the 1%.

So what generation Floridian are you?

People tend to forget that Florida was very, very rural until the early 20th century. WWII and air conditioning really gave a jump start to settlement outside the Miami area and Northern Florida.

Earlier than this Jackson of Jackson Memorial Hospital fame in Miami left the little town of Bronson and settled in the village of Miami. Early trade was along the railroad from Cedar Key to Fernandina Beach.

Produce would come down the Mississippi, be carried across the Gulf of Mexico to Cedar Key, where it would be transported by rail to the east coast, thus avoiding hurricanes and other fowl weather. This abandoned railroad runs very close to my home.
