The Fast And Furious Scandal Is Turning Into President Obama's Watergate

Tim Stanley June 21.

Obama is repeating many of the mistakes that led to Nixon's resignation in 1974

Fast and furious hasn’t been discussed a lot in the mainstream media, which is why the facts can seem so preposterous when you read them for the first time. But the story is slowly unraveling and the public is catching up with the madness. On Wednesday, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt over his decision to withhold documents related to the “gun walking” operation – documents that President Obama tried to keep secret by invoking executive privilege.

The question of why the Prez intervened in this way will surely hang over the investigation and the White House for many months to come. Be patient, conservatives. It took nearly eight months for the Watergate break in to become a national news story. But when it finally did, it toppled a President.

Here’s what Fast and Furious is all about – and for the uninitiated, be prepared for a shock. In 2009, the US government instructed Arizona gun sellers illegally to sell arms to suspected criminals. Agents working for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were then ordered not to stop the sales but to allow the arms to “walk” across the border into the arms of Mexican drug-traffickers. According to the Oversight Committee’s report, “The purpose was to wait and watch, in hope that law enforcement could identify other members of a trafficking network and build a large, complex conspiracy case…. [The ATF] initially began using the new gun-walking tactics in one of its investigations to further the Department’s strategy. The case was soon renamed ‘Operation Fast and Furious.”

If the kenyan can get past the election de to his delaying anything substantive from Congress then it will likely play out rather differently than Watergate. If the Soros vote counters manage to re-elect him he will move quickly to make irrelevant Congress and the courts entirely.

It’s much worse for Obama than just a cover up for Holder. The Obama administration held a press conference in April of ‘09, led by Gibbs that announced the creation of a program to end the assault weapons from passing across the border. Napolitano spoke at length about the new program and Obama’s part in it. She said that the new program would be called, Gun Runner and that it would be directed by the Justice Dept, but would include Homeland Security and the ATF.

Fast and Furious was but one part of the Operation Gun Runner. There were two other locations under different names, one in Texas, and one in Florida.

Operation Gun Runner grew out of Obama’s promise to Calderon to get rid of assault weapons. Obama was in on the creation of this plot. It’s his own crime that he is covering up, not just Holder’s.

There was NO planning or funding for the tracing. The ONE case in which there was actual tracing involved a field agent of the lowest rank going “off the reservation” and into a RADIO SHACK, where he used his OWN MONEY to buy a GPS thang. And in desperation he personally inserted it into one of the guns.

It went dark after 14 hours or so, deep in Mexico.

The scandal also involves GRENADES. And a casino getting burned down, with 20 Mexicans stacked up in the bathroom, dying for fresh air. And a helicopter getting shot down with a US Barrett.

And other stuff.

As usual... the only English speaking Journalism is in the news papers of the British press. Unreal... just unreal. I read the foreign press before I read the US media. All of my life I believed in the press... honored them and respected them as the truth keepers... until cronkite’s truth came out. They are the lowest form of life... below lawyers... below the dims themselves... for they are of pure evil and the lie is their passion.

Here again we see it —having to go to a BRITISH paper for honest coverage about the USA.

When was the last prominent time that happened?

During the MONICA MESS, when at Drudge and FR the scandal was known in lucid detail for over 10 months with NO coverage in the Legacy Press —NONE.

Brit papers picked it up, and Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, and later the US Enquirer and WND.

All after Drudge, and then FR. There are two reporting dimensions, each operating next to one another.

Exactly. Its B and E vs murder. This should be called the murdergate scandal

Yep. And every time the libs try and tell us, "This is exactly Watergate here." we need to remind them, "You're right, it isn't Watergate. People are dead."

>"murdergate"

At least BP Agent Terry died relatively quickly. The women and children at Waco didn't fare nearly as well.

FOX showed a copy of one of the documents DOJ turned over to congress. It was totally redacted (blacked out). Many of the documents turned over are similar.

The women and children at Waco didn't fare nearly as well.

And Eric "the Red" Holder was involved in that too.

Just don't let the Dems whine about 'nothing getting done' or 'wasting the taxpayer's money' or 'election year stunt'. The Dems sure didn't worry about such things during Watergate, and it was a tough economic time then, too (Nixon imposed wage and price controls to try to rein in inflation).

The problem is, the Dems had the "news" media on their side, as they do now. Just as NBC has blacked out coverage of F&F, I'm sure the alphabet networks (or the Talking Points distribution syndicate.... whatever) will not provide a media circus of daily televised Congressional meetings where they trot up a long line of White House officials to grill them in front of the cameras. It would be Dems testifying before Repubs, after all.

Stick with it, don't back down, and screw the "news" media. We now have the internet - use it.

Very arrogant group of people. Holder should resign. It seems he believes his own lies. Contempt of Congress...contempt for the American people and the country.
