The Fast And Furious Scandal Is Turning Into President Obama's Watergate [Woodward and Bernstein?]

The Fast And Furious Scandal Is Turning Into President Obama's Watergate

Tim Stanley June 21.

Obama is repeating many of the mistakes that led to Nixon's resignation in 1974

Fast and furious hasn’t been discussed a lot in the mainstream media, which is why the facts can seem so preposterous when you read them for the first time. But the story is slowly unraveling and the public is catching up with the madness. On Wednesday, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt over his decision to withhold documents related to the “gun walking” operation – documents that President Obama tried to keep secret by invoking executive privilege.

The question of why the Prez intervened in this way will surely hang over the investigation and the White House for many months to come. Be patient, conservatives. It took nearly eight months for the Watergate break in to become a national news story. But when it finally did, it toppled a President.

Here’s what Fast and Furious is all about – and for the uninitiated, be prepared for a shock. In 2009, the US government instructed Arizona gun sellers illegally to sell arms to suspected criminals. Agents working for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were then ordered not to stop the sales but to allow the arms to “walk” across the border into the arms of Mexican drug-traffickers. According to the Oversight Committee’s report, “The purpose was to wait and watch, in hope that law enforcement could identify other members of a trafficking network and build a large, complex conspiracy case…. [The ATF] initially began using the new gun-walking tactics in one of its investigations to further the Department’s strategy. The case was soon renamed ‘Operation Fast and Furious.”

Yup, you will find ALL that info referenced here, and links on the web. But that’s not all:

They’re banding around the number of Mexican dead at 200, or 500. How do they get 500? Here’s now:

There maaany murders down there, sure, but when there’s one in which a US weapon IS RECOVERED, then that murder(s) go into the 500 figure.

But do we really think in every case the murderers are throwing down their US weapons at the scene? No. In many cases they are retained for subsequent Mexican murder use. So the number 500 is not really accurate —it’s probably substantially higher, and that question did come up.

You’ll find online that they arrested the son of the Sinaloa Cartel and extradited him to Chicago —he’s on trial up there (he has some weird name, I seem to recall). And they asked him how many murders with US F&F weapons did he think had gone down and HE (the son of the head of the Sinaloa Cartel) said that it’s more like THOUSANDS.

Now...I will not guarantee that number, I just have a very good feeling that it’s well over 500.

Might the full scandal also touch Republicans? Hey, ya know what? I DON’T CARE.

BRING DOWN ALLLL THE GUILTY.

How did they know about the, “no Sinaloa busts in return for intel about other cartel loads”-secret agreement? Cuz Sinaloa sonny boy was in trouble in Chicago, and that was part of his legal defense:

“Hey maybe I WAS exporting drugs to the USA on a massive scale, sure, but YOU GUYS PERMITTED ME TO...”

Cuz as son of the Sinaloa Cartel leader he was privvy to all the inside dope (if you will) and knew of the agreement. So it makes perfect sense that upon his extradition and prosecution that he would make use of that important legal tool.

He also said the agreement was so detailed that they had a DEA point of contact that would contact them EVERY time they had US assets in the vicinity of Sinaloa narco operations.

There was a US legal .pdf online that was like 50 pages, and it has amazing stuff —it was the actual deposition, or something.

It read like a spy novel —it was mind-blowing stuff. It might still be out there.

The MSM will try, but once something gets this hot, they can’t ignore it.

I wish we could impeach him now, but there is that unwritten clause in the Affirmative Action law that prevents it.

It will be stonewalled till after the election

Ok, here the mother of all questions. I'm not afraid to admit that I'm stupid on some issues.

Let's say it does get stonewalled till after the elections. Let's say the investigation slows down to a crawl from now until after the elections and let's say Obama loses in November.

If Obama loses in November, where does this issue go?

Are the Fast and Furious investigations history and all is forgotten or do they continue?

If the results of the investigation turn out to be very bad for Eric Holder, would it be better for it to turn out bad for Eric Holder during Obama's first administration or under a new Republican administration?

And the same question goes for Obama (if it turns out very bad for him).

Excellent questions. Ask Scooter Libby and Ollie North and G Gordon Liddy.

I don’t want him impeached. I want him voted out.

I’m afraid an impeachment would make it more likely the dems could win.

They’re probably play the Hillary card and some people think Bill and Hil are just so cool now.

Had a guy on another thread say he’d rather vote for Clinton than Romney. I gently reminded him that Clinton is a rapist, but he didn’t care.

“If Obama loses in November, where does this issue go?”

Into the crapper! Boner really wants no part of this. Getting rid of the FUBO Admin is the absolute best we, as citizens can expect, because enough morons in Ohio keep electing Boner, and some other morons in other states also keep electing other “establishment Republicans” who are devoid of any testicle, or patriotism!

It’s obvious this was directed from the White Hut. Interdepartmental Coordination deems it so.

It is obvious this was not a flawed investigation/sting operation. This was a scam on the US Public.

It is Time. Expose them, Put their asses in Jail.

Heard within past two days the contempt of Congress dies when this Congress becomes the next Congress. Good questions and the first sentence is the one which bothers me. democRATs are beginning to look defeated and this is good, though am wondering is there more to this election than simply trying to run out the clock? Perhaps I need to put more tinfoil on my list of items to pick up.

A bit different than what the democrats are saying about Bush, huh?

Yes, of course the Demorats conflate and distort and BS. A synopsis of Wide Receiver:

Operation Wide Receiver was a Bush-era BATFE operation run in Tucson, conducted in full coordination with Mexican authorities, that sought to track and interdict guns being smuggled south using a combination of RFID-tracking devices embedded in the shipments and surveillance aircraft. Wide Receiver failed because of the limitations of the technology used, compounded by inept, untested installation, and the unexpected resourcefulness of cartel gun smugglers. As a result of the mistakes made in Wide Receiver, guns were lost: approximately 450 made it into Mexico. This botched operation that was launched in 2006 — and in this instance, actually botched — was shut down in 2007. Compare the unintentional mistakes of Wide Receiver to the deliberate failure of the Fast and Furious operation launched under Eric Holder’s Department of Justice, which had all the advantages of learning from the postmortem failures of Wide Receiver two years before at its immediate disposal.

Yet, unlike Wide Receiver, F&F had no operational basis whatsoever for tracking and interdicting “walked” weapons, and no plan of any kind to support its success. Where Operation Fast and Furious was a multi-agency, multi-department plot involving high-ranking government appointees and possibly elected officials, Operation Wide Receiver was a local BATF operation, using untested new technologies in an attempt to interdict and capture weapons smugglers. Fast and Furious used neither tracking devices nor surveillance aircraft, and ran interference for smugglers with local law enforcement on multiple occasions. Further, unlike Wide Receiver, coordination of the operation with Mexican authorities on the other side of the border was never even attempted, and federal agents of F&F were specifically not allowed to interdict weapons."

Democrats are congenital liars as watch some idiot Dem Cong. Adam Shiff speaking to Greta on Fox.

That guy couldn’t spell, but boy howdy he sure had his lucid logic marching in lockstep. Booyah!

You know, we may not see WithHolder in prison garb, but this has GOT to be confusing the liberal psyche out there and making it harder for them to get off the bong and vote.

Watergate was driven by the media, specifically by Nixon hating Catherine Graham, at the time the owner of the Washing. Post, whose passing I well remember commented on this forum. It was the first time I saw here the conflict between the goodie-goodies and the rest of us, the former inexplicably issuing condolences to the family as if the family were holding their collective breaths waiting for anonymous Internet geeks in their underwear, magic or not, to wish them well. That started an ugly trend with other anonymous fools here wishing Paul McCartney Happy Birthday last week. Posturing on the cheap.

Anyway, if not for the Wash Post, there wouldn’t have been a scandal, and there won’t be a scandal now unless the MSM decides that there is a scandal. That’s how it works, folks, the media create a reality.

Actually, what I REALLY want to see happen to that 1/2 black POS I can't post here...let your imagination run rampant.
