The West worries too much about the prospect of Iran going nuclear. If it did get the bomb, the Middle East would probably become a more stable region. So says Kenneth Waltz, a veteran scholar, in an essay in one of America's most influential magazines.
"Why Iran Should get the Bomb," says the headline in Foreign Affairs, the house organ of the Council on Foreign Relations, a New York think tank. "Nuclear Balancing Would Mean Stability."
The author is a senior research scholar at the Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies. His contrarian essay coincides with yet another unsuccessful round of negotiations between Iran and the so-called P5+1 group of countries who insist the government in Tehran must do more to prove that its nuclear program is peaceful, as it claims, rather than intended to build weapons.

“Scholars” didn’t “worry” about Hitler either.

You can go to any university library and pull back issues of Foreign Affairs dating to around 1940, and see that they have always been wrong about virtually everything.

Right. The bombs over Hiroshima and Nagaski were "defensive weapons tending to increase stability."

Well, “you can’t out-stupid progressives or AP and Reuters writers”!

No doubt about it; yes, the Middle East would become far more stable.
In fact, there’s very little in the known universe that’s more stable than an uninhabited desert sea of glass.
And in short order, too, the entire world will be far more stable - without a human population always arguing and fighting over things.

If these "realists" meant it, they would literally stake their lives on their ideology, which they claim is no ideology. They would say "Iran is not a threat" and I am so certain that Iran is a rational player and that a nuclear arms race in the Middle East will not endanger American security that if an American city of base in nuked, you all can lynch me.
Of course, they have no courage of convictions. They understand that they live above consequences, along side the isolationists hiding outside of major American cities.
