Gay pride and prejudice: A look at the LGBT Civil Rights movement
Guardian Express ^ | June 24 2012 | Kyra Hall

Posted on 06/24/2012 4:47:10 PM PDT by scottjewell

Pride is listed as one of the seven deadly sins. It come before a fall, and it is also the word used to describe parades held every year by LGTB communities throughout America. Gay Pride Parades, as they are most often referred to, are as diverse as the communities in which they take place. These spectacles have been likened to the Civil Rights marches of the 1960s, but there is a fundamental difference. The marches and peaceful demonstrations of the Civil Rights movement worked hard to convey an image of dignity, whereas Gay Pride Parades serve to reinforce negative stereotypes about the LGBT community. By publicizing outrageous, stereotypical behavior, gay pride parades are doing immense harm to the LGBT Civil Rights movement.

In 2001, satirical news outlet The Onion published an article entitled “Gay-Pride Parade Sets Mainstream Acceptance of Gays Back 50 Years.” This article was meant to be a comedic piece, but instead it demonstrates the central problem with Pride parades and their effects on the LGBT community. These parades showcase a microcosm within the larger LGBT community, but they have become the icon of the movement for Gay Rights. Most of the people that identify themselves as LGBT are productive, non-obtrusive, upright members of society. These are not the people who march in gay pride parades. The public is presented with outlandish costumes and baffling levels of debauchery, while the perpetrators scream for the rights of the LGBT community. Looking back on the history of the Gay Rights Movement, there is a reason for this behavior.

This is a lengthy but very interesting piece.

In light of the post of yesterday about the Philadelphia Pride antics replete with disturbing pics (courtesy of Peter LeBarbara of Americans for Truth) and the hordes of millions who marched the lavender line of gay pride here in New York City today, I thought this was an apt OpEd piece to post.

Addendum:

Of course my own opinion differs from the author of this piece in that I believe there is something revealing and deeply telling about the gay pride marches.

I do not view these as incongruous of the gay community in general, but rather a deeply rooted spirit within that community.

I recall a piece posted here at FR which pointed out the jarring difference between the solemn marches of blacks in the civil rights days, and the lewd revelers of gay pride (the author well points out that “pride goeth before a fall”-—something that the gay community ought to keep well in mind.

Here is how Hall ends her piece: While I do not share her view that all nay sayers are bigots, of course, or that all revelers are simply “the fringe”, I do think she has sounded an important warning, and one which will be ignored.

“Those who participated in the Civil Rights movement knew that they had to be on their best behavior because even one iota of misconduct would have been taken by segregationists and used as a weapon against African Americans as a group. Instead of taking the road to equal rights, well-trodden by those before them, the LGBT community’s fringe groups seem hell-bent on undermining the rest of them. Pride parades provide bigots with weapons that are slowing down progress, and eroding the movement all together. Rights are not won by behaving in ways that alienate those that might help you. If the LGBT community wants to truly gain their place in the nation and win the rights that all humans deserve, they should take a page from Bayard Restin’s book and “realize what blacks learned long ago. Unless you are out here fighting for yourself, then nobody else will help you,” as quoted from “Out of the Past,” a documentary on prominent gay figures throughout history.”

Here is the post I was referring to, and the picture which a poster rightly showed as revealing the huge gulf fixed between the civil rights era and the age of gay pride:

A long time ago I remember reading a thread here that directed one to some REAL photos of what goes on at these sodomites parades. It was so disgusting.

If the media ever once told the truth about that people would be shocked.

If it was not acceptable to the ‘Gay community’, they would halt it. If homo adult child sex was not okay to the pervs, they would stop them from setting up sexual grooming clubs in the schools. They would halt their pervert leaders from harassing heterosexual love and marriage with their social engineering crap.

No, we hear nothing out of gays about these abuses. They think it’s cute to sexually dominate the Nation and especially the power to sexualize other people’s cildren or they would not be doing it. Everyone has to be the lowest common denominator of what this ‘community’ could possibly conjure. I beleive my lying eyes rather than third person flapping lips.

In response to: I recall a piece posted here at FR which pointed out the jarring difference between the solemn marches of blacks in the civil rights days, and the lewd revelers of gay pride ...(and all of post #3)..

And we see yet again, that equating the civil rights movement of black Americans to the in-your-face exhibitionism of the homosexual lobby, is a disgusting comparison.

To imply that black Americans participating in the civil rights movement were "on their best behavior" for the cameras, in the sense that they were trying to cover up some nefarious lifestyle better left behind the scenes, makes them seem "less than normal" Americans. To the contrary, the homosexual lobby and the "gay pride parades" are about nothing but shoving an abnormal, immoral lifestyle into the public arena and demanding it be accepted and promoted. Were I a black American, I would be furious with the fact that my skin color and historical discrimination were continually being co-opted by a loud bunch celebrating their mental illness and their sycophants in the MSM.

The road through Selma wasn’t supposed to lead to Sodom.

"it demonstrates the central problem with Pride parades and their effects"

NO, NO, NO!
"Pride" should NOT be allowed to become synonymous with the disgusting antics of sodomite fecal freaks!
I utterly REJECT its usage in this fashion and so should everyone else!

Yes-—the homosexual movement is only to promote and normalize the Vice of Sodomy and destroy the Christian paradigm in America-—that our Rights come from God.

The Civil Rights of Blacks was a Natural Right from God. Not so with sodomy.

They are Atheists who have no moral code except the Marxist one, “if it feels good, do it” and they are trying to force through Law the elimination of God from our Founding Documents and replace Him with Satan or Barney Frank. (unconstitutional—we have to have Right Reason according to Nature for Just Law).

Sodomy is a Vice and Just Laws would NEVER allow governments to support such an evil, unnatural, destructive behavior—for the children. Virtue is necessary for Free Republics. But, of course, Marxists want us all to be slaves to the flesh-—distracted by bread and circuses so they can totally take over.

Up Your Alley 2008

You are about to view the zombietime report about the 2008 Up Your Alley Fair in San Francisco.

This report contains photographs and descriptions of extreme sexual behavior performed in public that some viewers may find disturbing.

Two versions of this report have been made available:

The "full" version of the report contains the complete, unedited and uncensored photographs.

The "blurred" version of the report contains photographs that have been partially blurred to obscure the more explicit components of each image.

Note that the captions remain exactly the same in both versions, and that this text is also somewhat explicit, since it describes the action in the photographs.

Take a moment to decide which version you would like to view. Please be aware that when we say "explicit" and "extreme," we are not exaggerating.

Yes, you are correct: The insinuation that the black Americans who marched calmly and soberly, with quiet dignity, were really only “on their best behavior” and thus duping the public is an insult.

In truth, the civil rights black Americans were usually Christian church going family people.

They are right as you say, to reject the parallel with gay pride, and many of them do.

Good lord. Yes, this is about as hellish as it gets. This sort of depravity and total lack of respect for self or others is a sickness unto death. I think it is important for people to view the extreme version, because even the most secular atheist would have to admit there is disease and deterioration within. It rends the human heart with pity, it is that extreme.

The Jerry Sandusky verdict sends a golden shower on their parade (how’s that for a mixed metaphor?)

Perfect timing, IMHO.

I doubt it.

Ha, yes, that is an apt metaphor.

But we both know that they would insist vehemently that there is NO connection between Sandusky’s actions and their own; that if anything “gay pride will cure such excesses” etc., etc. ad nauseum.

I am sure of it. I think few people even understand this aspect of the gay lifestyle. On the other hand, there are enough depraved heteros who probably engage in much the same. And they are as depraved for it; their “straightness” notwithstanding.
