Two illegal immigrants initially denied potentially lifesaving organ transplants could eventually receive the procedures at two area hospitals, according to a source close to the men.
The University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center last week agreed to begin evaluating Lorenzo Arroyo, 36, for a liver transplant, while Loyola University Medical Center agreed to evaluate Jorge Mariscal, 23, for a kidney transplant, said the Rev. Jose Landaverde of Our Lady of Guadalupe Anglican Catholic Mission in Little Village.
The two men have been previously treated for their conditions at those respective institutions. In a statement, UIC confirmed a transplant evaluation for an illegal immigrant after a meeting between Landaverde and Dr. Joe G.N. "Skip" Garcia, vice president for health affairs, and did not name the patient.

This is poor b.s. No illegal alien should be in front of a US Citizen in this country.

That's based on my observation over the years that when you get outside the bounds of statutory law that which is permitted becomes prohibited, and vice versa.
It might be time to sign the USA deed over to Mexico and the Blacks and be done with it. Then they can pay the damn bills.
We’ve taken our names off of the Transplant Donor lists.
I have no problem with transplants — but I’ll be damned if any of my organs or that of my loved ones will be given to an illegal alien or a prison inmate BEFORE a law-abiding American citizen!!
lets also not forget the 2 citizens that will get pushed back on the list because these squatters are on it.
The only transplants these two should be getting are back to their country of origin. Where they can sit on the PROPER waiting list for organs.
They might die waiting? To bad. It happens here too.
Sir, when you write about the Catholic Church, I believe that initial caps are required, certainly for the “Catholic” component.
Unfortunately, if we did that, there would be no place for any of us. They would hunt us all down and do away with all of us.
Our 49 yr. old son has been on dialysis for over a yr. and on a donor waiting list. Perhaps he will be the American passed up so that some illegal can be helped. If no donor, our son will be on dialysis for the rest of his life.
That seems harsh. You have no way of knowing where the organs would go.
Maybe there’s a teen in Long Island who needs one.
Seems like ... you’re cutting off the nose to spite the face.
I would donate blood or organs if I could ... because of a rare situation, I can’t.
Please do it for me.
Americans died to provide those organs, and more Americans die when those organs go to foreigners. In the name of false compassion, the media is ignoring the Americans on both ends who died - and the Americans whose medical costs go up to pay for these services, which the illegals did not pay for.
Yeah, I think they got it just backwards.
We should be harvesting the illegals’ organs for transplants. Same for death row inmates.
Well Msgt, somedays it feels like they are already hunting us down.
A breaking point it out there, we just don’t know with certainly when it’s going to hit... me thinks.
I don’t think Illegals can be donors without having ID cards.
Seems rather RACIST of those Chicago hospitals....just sayin’
Yes, I have a way of knowing where the organs will go. Into the ground with me or my loved ones. I will make sure scarce, precious organs don’t go to an illegal alien in lieu of an American citizen.
This is MY choice and I still have the FREEDOM to make this choice, and I will continue to do so as long as illegal immigrants are put ahead of even one single American.
Let’s say I went over to China or down to Mexican and DEMANDED that I receive an organ transplant ahead of one of THEIR citizens, got all mouthy about it and went to the press. What do you think the chances are that their governments would put me ahead of a Chinese or Mexican citizen? About zero? Or maybe I’d get a bullet in the back of my head first.
