Angela Merkel used to say she’ll do what it takes to rescue the euro. Now she rolls her eyes and says foreigners shouldn’t overestimate Germany’s financial capacity. Wolfgang Schäuble, her finance minister, called in the German banks two years ago and told them to roll over their loans to Greece. Now, saying that Greece is “a bottomless pit,” he encourages them to head for the exits, like everyone else.

I say NATO caused this.
NATO’s mission was over in 1991. By keeping NATO alive after that, we falsely encouraged the idea of “Europe” above their obvious national differences.
NATO also gave a fake veneer of security, which allowed the Eurocrats to believe they could spend like good socialists forever without consequence.
If they had needed to figure out their relations, relative strength and pecking order amongst each other in 1991, EU countries would have not created the Euro and would have very different arrangements today (which is the process we are undergoing now).
Not quite. They still haven't quite run out of other people's money.

And that is the bottom line here. They will scratch and claw. They will borrow. They will print money. They will kick the can any way they can to add one more year, month, week, day, until they simply have nothing left and this reaches critical mass with the people.
Problem is, the longer they DO kick the can, the worse it will be when we finally reach the end of the road.
And make no mistake, it is “we”, not “them”.
Yep. National Socialism. Then after they eaten all of Germany’s rich, they had to invade neighbors and steal their wealth to keep the party going.
