Headline: "Obama to reduce deficit"
Story: But not until 2056.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
Yeah. But when he becomes President for Life in 2016, no doubt he will find reasons for further delays. Or his carefully selected stooges in the regulator seats will.

though at a pace that allows for more research before additional permits are granted.

What a difference there is when an election draws near! He also called Florida Gov. Scott to offer FEMA aid, condolences, etc. Did he call last year under similar circumstances? Hell no.
Then again, his promises have a half-life measured in days if not hours.

The headline is complete CNN BS. The article is the exact opposite of the headline.

In other words, NO DRILLING. This will however have the desired effect of lowering the price of oil a little more just in time for the election.
Gas will be below $3 per gallon before the election. If Obama gets reelected it will be over $5 in less than six months.
I actually think this is part of his plan to bring this country down. Get reelected and drive up the price of gas to $6 per gallon or more. Above $6 the country lasts less than two years before total economic collapse.

In 300 years the income tax rate will be 0% for everyone.

But the new leases won't be issued until 2016, It's hard to believe even Obama and his gang would announcement something that preposterous in an election year.

Exactly. Obama may allow more Arctic permitting, but he won't allow any Arctic drilling.

Industry types would prefer a much faster timetable to get the drilling going,
while many opponents want it halted permanently.
Calling opponents "Industry types" shows the attitude of both the administration and CNN.

When preposterous is the only trick you have left in the bag, it serves its purpose. This in no way upsets the core constituency (which is rapidly diminishing, it might be added), and it sort of mollifies the parts of the squishy middle who don’t listen very well anyway.
No actual permits or drilling would ever occur under US auspices. The Russian Federation will drill sideways into the reservoirs and have them pumped dry long before then.

That’s the best analysis. Kudos
