The best case scenario is a total takeover: Mitt wins the Presidency, the GOP holds the House, and we pick up enough seats to gain a thin majority in the Senate.

Disagree; best case right now would be to keep Obama and chuck out any RINOs/Dems replacing them with people who are dedicated to Truth, Justice, and Integrity -- If this is an independent, so be it; what we cannot afford is to vote for the party precisely because of how "the party" has acted in the past twenty or so years. (Remember NY-23?)

(The republicans have, for all of my "politically aware life" have merely *said* things that sounded good, but never tries; the Dems however are constantly trying to *do* what they say they will do.)

“If a Democratic Republic has bad leaders, that means the people didn’t do a good job of voting the right people in.”

No kidding! Just look at the choices we’ve had and continue to have. The Man Bear Pig or Bush; John Effing or Bush, Obama or Mc Lame, and now Obama or Romney. For these “choices,” we can thank the “Republican Establishment.”
As far as I am concerned, this next election is my last as a registered Republican. If Romney. by some chance is elected and gives us Obama Lite, why bother to vote at all!
