It All Boils Down to November

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, the politics of this. I was thinking today, folks, right before the show began, how many days have there been in my 23-year career like this. Of course, the first big one was Clinton winning in 1992. The day after that election, I remember how depressed everybody who did not want Clinton to be elected was. I remember how depressed the audience was, and I remember my task that day and how I chose to go about it, which was to be as honest as I could and as positive as I could without abandoning reality. And to keep people engaged and in the game. And there have been, I forget how many, I couldn't think of them all, but there have been many days like this throughout the course of this program where a decision or an election has had a devastating impact on the attitudes of people.

How do you keep people engaged? Of course there are obvious ways to do it from my standpoint in this circumstance. You can talk about the campaign, for example. I touched on it briefly mere moments ago. We know that had this decision gone the other way, as it should have, that Obama was salivating to run against the court, a court that was arrogant and out of touch and disrespectful and had no concern for the plight of the average downtrodden America, four white guys and an Uncle Tom, four rich Republican white guys and an Uncle Tom just took your health care away from you, but they kept theirs. Well, that's gone now. Obama can't run against the court.

As a side note on this, how many embarrassed journalists are there for all these stories this week and last which trashed the court as being out of touch and arrogant? A guy, Roger Simon at The Politico, wrote a piece as though the court had already decided against Obama. And many others had written pieces about how worthless and out of touch and damaging the court was. There were people saying, "We need ten more justices! This court's been overtaken by a bunch of rabid right-wingers."

Now they've gotta do their retractions.

They don't have the court to run against.

They don't have this as an issue to run against.

We have a great issue thrown right in the middle of our laps, and that is fraud/deceit. "What do you mean, a tax makes it okay? Is there anything the government can't tax? Is there no universe alive that the government can't get itself involved in? So we've got a rotten economy that Obama can't defend. We have a Supreme Court he cannot attack. So from the standpoint of the campaign going into the summer, the fall, and so forth, you could look at it as a positive. You could say accurately, too, that the anti-Obama vote will be loaded for bear.

It will be large, and it will be animated, and it will be energetic. Now, what's Obama got to run on? He can't run on his record; it's a disaster. He can't promise to do four more years of what he's done. Unless he wants to run on the great things represented by Obamacare and say, "It's just a taste of what could happen, just a little sample of what more we can do working together," and so forth. This will all work itself out, shake itself out as the months and days unfold before our very eyes and ears. But I have to tell you something.

I'm gonna look at this, and I have, and I can find plenty of positives in it in terms of a campaign and the advantages it gives us and the ways in which to attack the incumbents that we have. But I wish it weren't the case. I wish we didn't have to do this. This is very, very troubling, what happened today. The way in which this disaster of a law was determined to be constitutional indicates the country is in a place... You all know it, and know it together. The country is in a very dangerous and precarious place, and it really is hanging by a thread.

And that thread is either going to unravel in November or it's going to get stronger and we start sewing things back together. But it really does boil down to November. I think it's just unfortunate that we've gotten here. We've gotten to this point where the Constitution... I said it yesterday and the day before. We wouldn't even be here if everybody involved simply had respect for and understanding of the Constitution. We wouldn't even be here. And that's what really is frightening about this.

It's the Constitution that's hanging by a thread and all the rest of us with it. But what's abundantly clear is we can't count on anyone except ourselves. "We, the people." It's up to us. We can't count on anyone. I tried to share with you the disquietedness I felt this week as the anticipation built. "Will the health care ruling come Monday? No, it's gonna be Thursday!" And all the citizens and all the media gathered outside the court, tongues hanging, heavy breathing (panting), waiting for the decision of what it turns out to be.

Five people in a country of over 300 million decided. Now, I understand that it's a great opportunity we had to go to the court because the Congress used shenanigans and did pass this thing in a totally convoluted way. Just the idea here that, like in the old Roman days and the gladiator, the emperors were up there with thumbs up or thumbs down. It's where we are. November really does matter, and we can't count on anyone except us. So now we have to sit here and hope that all of us are up to the challenge. 'Cause it's a big one.

roberts is crazy like a fox. the nature of government is to grow - his ruling supports this, he has succeeded in angering the conservatives like no other isue would ever have, helping assure republican success in november...and the left loves him...

as trifecta

And, Mitt Romney is going to save it and nominate better judges to SCOTUS than Roberts?

In making Obamacare a tax and taxing those who do not have insurance, they are putting a burdensome tax on the poorest among us. How can that be “fair”?

Indeed, just like the Colosseum, the masses are being placated with foolish entertainment while the empire crumbles.

I don’t trust the Republicans OR Romney to repeal this. Sure the pubs will pass a bill before the election when they don’t have to worry about it getting signed but after that they’ll be too afraid of being accused of wanting to kill old people. They cave every time.

It’s already in the cards... “vouchers”.
The “poor”, really, it will be de facto race-based, will receive vouchers so they can buy insurance and avoid the penalty.

Rush still thinks there will be an honest election come November?

Remarkable.

As he readily admits, Rush is attempting to find something positive in the Supreme Court ruling that he disagrees with and yet remain realistic. That Chief Justice John Roberts has taken away a potentially useful Obama campaign issue and energized Republicans/conservatives is accurate. Rush correctly laments that while these things are good if the goal is to get rid of Obama and his destructive presidency, that the America we know and love is hanging by a thread is deeply disturbing. There are many reasons this is the case and they've all been commented on here, at one time or another.

What matters now is getting rid of Obama. If he is miraculously re-elected, America is absolutely doomed. While it's fashionable in some conservative circles to sneer at Mitt Romney and state that he will be useless if elected, I contend that we simply can't risk another four destructive years of Obama and that conservatives can put political pressure on Romney to to at least take some halfway conservative actions that will benefit the nation. No, I'm not a big fan of Romney nor do I see him as a any kind of political 'savior'. I do see him as a RINO that will stop the bleeding of the U.S. economy and the steady usurpation of our freedoms. At this point, that would be progress. Otherwise, we'll get Obama unleashed and the inevitable destruction of America from within.

While some will carp that Romney is 'just like Obama' I see that as ridiculous. Not being an ideological conservative does not equate to being a Marxist, like Obama. As so many have so accurately stated today: 'elections have consequences' and we have one coming up in just over 4 months. It can make the difference. Calling Romney names and vowing not to vote for him may seem to some as political sophistication and is certainly a voter's prerogative but I consider that stance to be unwise at this juncture in our nations history because we simply have too much to lose.

It doesn't boil down to November. It boils down to the fact that America has a one party system...one party with 2 faces.

After all, Roberts is a Republican appointee.

What America needs is a second party.

Call me a pessimist but I don't think voting will matter much. The country is more concerned about American Idol, sports events, and The Kardashians to give a sh!t about freedom.

The tree of liberty is on it's last breath and needs a lot of water.

Yup. Mitt Romney, who has captured the religious-like faith and trust as many FREEPERs' political Messiah and Savior and Lord (well, hey, he's ALREADY a supposed literal "god in embryo" on his way to full-grown Mormon godhood...so 'twas a short step away from ALREADY capturing such adoring devotion)...

Romney will ride in on his White Horse into the White House and fulfill the Mormon White Horse prophecy to save the constitution...and then all will look @ this Mormon "prophesy" and mass-convert (officially -- vs. unofficially) to MittMonism)

(Yup...to hear some tell it, ya just need a RINO or even GoP Prez...and presto...out comes a conservative Supreme Court Justice...as if they never learned the David Souter lesson)

What we have is candidate twins...NOT identitical twins, but twinhood none the less:
Both are big govt
Both have track record of appointing liberal judges
Both support homosexuals as minority class status
Both socialist healthcare pioneers
Both support "choice" (Romney told Katie Couric 12/07 that parents could either give up their offspring for adoptions -- or to "research")
Both have not taken actions to defend monogamy (other than look-good verbal tokenisms, Romney failed to actively defend one-woman, one-man marriage when the Supreme Court justices of MA were guilty of overreach there)
Both are fools re: global warming
Etc, etc. etc.

Obamacare has just as much of a chance at being repealed as Social Security or MediCare. The beast lives and cannot be suffocated. Any attempt at repealing Obamacare will be met with cries of ‘racism’ and we all know how well the Republicans respond to that. They don’t.

If only Romney had decisively disowned RomneyCare a year ago, we would be in so much better shape.

The 0bama campaign is going to run:

“0bamaCare was based on RomneyCare. Romney’s advisors were in the room when we designed 0bamaCare. We agree with Governor Romney that the same basic plan he passed works for the country.”

And they’ll be right.

Ouch.

Listen, go hang yourself then. The fact is we need to vote CONSERVATIVE as much as possible in November. Stop making this about whats his face from Massachusetts. He’s the nominee..deal.
What we need is people voting conservative for their state legislator and governor, and nationally with the congress and senate. This is about having people in place for a decade not just 4 to 8 years as the President. If we had control over the Senate and House at the time Obama’s bad medicine would have been DOA.
It’s about getting people like Walker as Governor.

Romney had to be the liberal surrounded by commies in Mass to govern. Don’t allow him to be surrounded by libs come November. Send as many conservatives to your statehouse and to the congress and senate in DC. Make sure they say they will repeal this monstrosity. It’s bigger than Mitt Romney, who by the way did say he would repeal it first day in office.
