On the eve of the Supreme Courts health care ruling Thursday morning, a Democratic group has uncovered what it said was fresh evidence of Mitt Romneys one-time embrace of the individual insurance mandate that he now scorns.
Video of Mr. Romney from a March 2006 news conference when he was governor of Massachusetts shows the presumptive Republican nominee praising the passage of an individual mandate in the legislature as an essential part of the reforms he advocated.
With regards to the individual mandate, the individual responsibility program that I proposed, I was very pleased that the compromise between the two houses includes the personal responsibility mandate, he says in the video, which was found by the group American Bridge 21st Century.

What if replacing the Kenyan with a RINO who will be in office when all the Obamacare bad things hit actually drives people AWAY from Conservatism?
What if the way to stop this slide to Socialism and awake the masses to Conservatism is to let this albatross land squarely on the Marxist's head?
You, therefore, are supporting Obama.
If Obama wins, we are STUCK with Obamacare forever.
Our only chance is a President Romney with a Conservative Congress.
Do you Mittbots want us all to lie about Romney? He’s on record promoting RomneyCare on a national level. The state’s rights thing is only a recent spin. He wrote his support for National Romneycare out of his book, and he lies about interviews and speeches he’s given where he has praised the idea of making RomneyCare national. He’s a liar. That’s all there is to it. Do you want us to forget that and ignore that simple reality that our nominee is a pathological liar? Why do you suppose the DNC wanted Romney to be our nominee? Because if we make this election about ObamaCare, the DNC is going to make the election about Romney’s support of it.

Gingrich
None of the above have ever Advocated an Individual Mandate.
(sigh)
Save your breath. I got into a firefight with another Romney-basher this afternoon. Some people just can’t or won’t prioritize. I supported Santorum, but since he won’t be the nominee, I’ll be turning whatever lemons I have into lemonade. Unfortunately there are a few who are just too hard-headed to make that jump.
...and on a national level.
“The difference is huge. But we do not expect a nitwit like u to understand. States rights vs full fledged national socialism.”
States rights.
Obama is our enemy right now, not Romney.
DNC troll.
Every Presidential election the site fills with you guys.
For the anti MITT name the GOP nominee you supported in teh past.
You can’t, becasue you are trolls.
Etch a Sketch.
He’ll try and repeal it my a**.
This is the same line used in 2008. From what we were told then, a win for Obama would mean no elections by 2012. So hold your nose and vote for McCain. I did, he lost, we are still holding an election in 2012, but with a more liberal Republican candidate.
This is akin to the Democrats scaring the seniors with threats that Republicans are going to take away their Social Security.
Yes, it's bad. It got bad in Carter's time too. It took a Conservative to change the course. And the stark contrast is what got the Conservative in. Reagan was not Carter-lite.
“DNC troll.
Every Presidential election the site fills with you guys.”
Since, I’m anti-bishop let me at least tell you who I’ve donated, supported, worked for, and was deceived/disappointed by.
Bush Sr (up for second term)
Bod Dole
George W - both terms
Mccain - (a vote for Palin)
Voted and worked for Santorum (original senate campaign)
Voted for Arnold due to the importance of the brand (R)
Voted for Specter due to the importance of the brand (R)
Embraced true conservatism and dumped the brand (R)
Voted w/ my feet and moved from CA to FL
Voted for Rubio
Voted for Scott
Voted for Newt
Romney may win this election, but without my help (I’m done being a traitor to myself and Lord) - down ticket conservative for me.
I have supported and pushed for Conservatives in every primary, and voted in every Republican primary since becoming of voting age.
I voiced my concerns with Dole's electability, but voted for him anyway.
I voiced my concerns with GWB's big government "Compassionate Conservatism" agenda that began to surface in his first term, but voted for his reelection anyway.
I strongly disagreed with McCain's eagerness to "reach across the isle", but held my nose and voted for him in the hope that his win would set us up for a future Palin presidency.
But the 2012 primary has pushed me to act. My first act is to show my displeasure with foisting yet-another-RINO on me will be abstaining from the Presidential vote, while continuing to vote for all Conservatives down-ticket. It is a small gesture compared to what our founders did, but they started with smaller gestures and only ended up at revolution when those failed.
For this course of action, I have been called "stupid", "idiot", "crazy", "Mr. DUmmie" "DNC troll" by the wise, thoughtful, freedom loving people on FR. All today.
Also, all these insightful people can't seem to understand that I can go in, not vote for President, but can vote for everything down-ticket, since I am also "unpatriotic" for "staying home".
If you buy that story, then I guess you can, fool all of them all the time.
The GOPe will never let this much power go, the lessor of two evils is always our choice, wonder why that is?
The difference is we both know that we are stuck with it in either case. Problem is with you, not us.
Federal Social Welfare Programs never get repealed and I do not expect Romney, has passed a similar plan and advocates elements of ObamaCare is not going to be to repeal it.
