Federal workers owe us their taxes (to the tune of $3.4 BILLION!)
South Bend Tribune ^ | June 29, 2012

President Obama is always harping about all Americans paying their fair share of taxes. While it may be legal to have back taxes, the Internal Revenue Service has found that more than 279,000 federal employees and retirees owed $3.4 billion, yes, billion, in back income taxes.

Some members of Obama's executive staff of nearly 1,800 owed the government $833,970 in back taxes.

My first question would be, why does it take 1,800 employees to staff the executive office? Most federal employees are paid much more with better benefits than those who have similar jobs in the private sector. Another question, why do these individuals who owe back taxes still have jobs?

Just following the example of the Sec. of the Treasury! Look at how many o his Cabinet picks had tax problems! They are all dirty, thieving, hypocrites. Can I say that on FR?

They shouldn't. At the very least their wages should be garnished for taxes due.

Oh, the poor souls probably have exorbitant college loans in arrears to pay off and can't afford to pay their taxes is all.

Give them a break for crying out loud, can't we all just get along?

I've been reading a book on the economies of ancient Greece and Rome. The author pointed out that during the time the Roman Empire lasted the bureaucracy increased in numbers and wealth at the expense of the landowners who were the principle source of state income. Further, it was the poorer landowner that was oppressed not the wealthy.

Nothing really changes.

The overwhelming majority of the taxes involve a resolution of custody ~ in the favor of the other parent. The guy or gal who lost custody ends up holding the bag when it comes to taxation since they lost the deduction for the kids FOR PRIOR YARS.

These disputes can continue for years and years and someone can build up a substantial tax debt in the meantime.

These disputes don't yield Uncle Sam much at all since the gaining party will refile their taxes and get a substantial refund.

Then there are the Geitners, he was simply too stupid to figure out how to do his taxes.

Well, let's see now. How many employees does it take to make a dim bulb function? In Obama's case, 1800! That dim bulb still doesn't shine, shuts down often for no good reason, and flickers when most needed to do work. But the ones who put it in, don't want to replace it for a better replacement because darn it, it's their dim bulb. Solution is alepways more employees to see if it gets brighter.

Darn slip of the fingers. Solution is always more employees to see if it gets brighter.
