In his effort to challenge President Barack Obama's attacks on his jobs record, Mitt Romney has enlisted a surprising new surrogate: Hillary Clinton.
The Romney campaign quietly launched a new 30-second television ad Friday featuring footage of Clinton campaigning against Obama during the 2008 Democratic presidential primary, in which she accused Obama of lying about her record.
"Shame on you, Barack Obama," Clinton says in the footage recycled in the Romney spot.
The Romney ad uses the Clinton footage to back up a recent Washington Post Fact Checker item that said a recent Obama ad accusing Romney of outsourcing jobs overseas while he was governor of Massachusetts was "misleading, unfair and untrue."
"But that's Barack Obama," a narrator in the Romney ad declares. "He also attacked Hillary Clinton with vicious lies."
The Clinton footage comes from a campaign event held just before the Ohio primary in 2008, when Clinton attacked Obama for mailers she said mischaracterized her positions on health care reform and the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Now someone had to give permission to let them run that.
I wonder who does not like Obamy?
This, is gonna be a great campaign to watch.
That was such a great ad.
THAT was a great ad! Very effective!
Short and to the point.
Good ad.
See tag line.
Ya think? I don’t think that permission is needed once it’s been aired on public airways.
There’s a faint possibility that I’m wrong.
No. Never happen. Interesting speculation but impossible.
Hillary calling somebody a liar is laughable
I still remember how she and Bubba continually condemned FOX news when they were running the WH
But during the primaries when she was denied access by the MSM in favor of Obama she ran to FOX to get her message out
It may be that is was aired on the general public and is public knowledge, but the spot is used for adverts. I am certain that they have to have permission for that. It would be like if I were to use a spot that you put out for the general consumption by the public, and I used it to gain a particular advantage either financially or other.
I understand that the Klintoons really, REALLY, dislike Obama and his cronies.
Shame on the voters who voted the magic negro into office.
Nah!
The Supercourt says when it comes to free speech...anything goes.
I'd bet you'd have said the same thing about Roberts yesterday morning.
Excellent ad.
It’s only beginning. Wasn’t at all for Romney during the primary, but mittens is gonna get nasty wit’ Bro-bama.....aka Afro-bama.
I think Romney knows what Mccain and his ignorant lackeys (Wallace and Schmidt) could never figure out. That you have to go right at this guy.
Free speech? By who?
LOL..
Yup...if your opponent brings fists, you bring a knife...if he’s got a knife, you bring a gun...he’s got a gun, you bring a tank.
Romney’s gotta take off the gloves and not be afraid of callin this guy out.
And if a tank, an atom bomb, and if an atom bomb...
They need to use the Hillary clip of her shrieking about the right to disagree with any administration...
Hmm, if her permission is required, then who is helping who? May be clever, but it makes me distrust Romney even more, which is amazing since I already don’t trust him a quarter of a milimeter.
That is one of the best ads I’ve ever seen. Thanks for posting it.
Anyone who can afford it.
I think they are allowed to use so many minutes, possibly without permission, or possibly with the permission of whomever broadcast it. It could have been property of the Republican party/Mitt Romney from 2008.
Thanks.
“Mitt Romney has enlisted a surprising new surrogate: Hillary Clinton’
Not surprising at all to this poster. Have been saying this from the beginning of the SELECTION of government Hillary Romney. Hillary Romney. Hillary Romney
Do not trust any politician. Period.
Problem is...who do you want to see as the next POTUS?
I no way do we want the present president re-elected.
Well..that leaves most people out then. Guess I will have to let sweet lips do my talking.
Yep.
And when the time comes, he'll step aside for her, just like McCain did for Obama.
That's Romney's JOB.
.....which is where it will remain, only "intended" to "excite the base".....nothing more.......nothing so BOLD as actually telling the TRUTH which, if that were his motivation.........
....it would be on National TV, on every single network that couldn't afford to NOT carry it.........
......I'm sorry I'm going to < belches > I guess vote for him but who really gives a hoot? ANymore? Can someone convince me he will ACTUALLY TRY to repeal Obamacare?
Really? And what kind of cigarettes has John Robberts been smoking again?..............
I don't think Romney needed permission to run that Hillary footage from the 2008 campaign.
Damn, Hillary has aged big time in over the last four years!
If you don't think Hillary would be worse than Obama, you're smoking crack.
Obama is NOTHING compared to her.
Nice ad, very, very nice
Nice ad, very, very nice
Last time I checked, she aint running.
Where the hell have you been these last months?
Oh I like it!
Good one! Show it during next Super Bowl!
A one on one debate duel with no teleprompters!
I've called it, "The RINO Swan Dive" for at least five years now. Used to call it "The Bob Dole Swan Dive" before that.
Why don't we put up a billboard outside DC on the Virginia side proclaiming All Hail to President Hillary! in advance. Hell, it might even inoculate the situation were it not so obvious in the BSM for about six months now.
Instead of stuff like this that is too clever by half, does anyone think that just honesty would work.
Just to honestly tell the people what is happening to them and what can happen and what Romney intends to do?
Just honesty in an even civil voice person to person.
Is that just plain naive?
If Obama et al. sued then what Hillary said would really become big news.
(Good!!)
Well, it really depends on who you are. Laws are enforced selectively now and used as punitive measures against enemies.
Mitt is running a great campaign thus far. Tip my hat.
I will have a very, very hard time voting for (swallowing bile) Romney. But I will. I just hope he doesn’t pick a similar RINO or worse yet, non-NBC for his VP.
Or - that there is a revolution at the convention. Romney is the most revolting RINO candidate I can imagine. Smarmy, slimey, a liar, no core, power hungry, liberal, and so on. Just freaking nauseating.
Bump
It’s a shame that us Conservatives in California won’t be seeing much in the way of these ads. Romney would be a fool to spend money in California.
You got me there.
I guess anything’s possible but I would call your idea that Hillary will somehow wrest the nomination from Obama the closest thing to impossible I can think of.
I hope she doesn’t because way too many people have forgotten how horrible she is and Obama will be easier to beat.
Fighting dirty is in the eye of the beholder.
Someone on one of the Sunday shows was interviewing Rick Perry who is now a strong supporter of Romney.
They challenged him about some of the things he said about Romney in the primaries and he blew it off (with a smile).
He said, ‘oh, we all said things in the primaries.’
It’s called campaigning.
When it’s against Obama, it ain’t too dirty.
Hillary calling somebody a liar is laughable
Besises, attacking lefties on being a liar is like attacking them for breathing.
Wait until Obama’s people start showing screencaps of Free Republic’s comments about Romney in their next ad.
