Rep. Charles Rangel's (D-N.Y.) primary rival on Friday filed a legal challenge to the ballot-counting process as the 82-year old lawmaker's margin of victory in Tuesday's Democratic primary narrowed.
Rangel seemingly won Tuesday's competitive primary against state Assemblyman Adriano Espaillat. The former House Ways and Means Committee chairman declared victory and Espaillat conceded defeat.
But since then, as ballots have continued to be counted, Rangel's reported margin of vicotroy has shrunk from 6 points on Tuesday, when reports gave him a 46 percent to 38 edge with 82 percent of precincts reporting, to 2.6 percent, media reports said.

But Rangel was uncontested on Working families line.
Weird turn to Rangel primary vote count
“The reason six percent of votes had not yet been tabulated, Vazquez said, is that the police officers tasked with providing an unofficial record of the data from those precincts after securing voting boxes on election night had not done so. Once election workers downloaded voting files from each precinct to reach an official total, Vazquez said, a complete count would be reached.”

This whole “I declare victory”, “I concede” crap is ridiculous.
It means nothing, I have never understood why candidates makes these announcements.
The election is over when there are no more votes to count, not when the candidates make their “I win you lose” speech.
“Whats known is this: As of Friday evening, 32 precincts six percent of all votes cast had yet to be accounted for. And another 2,447 affidavit ballots and 667 absentee votes hadnt been counted yet either. According to the city Board of Elections, Rangels lead over second-place finisher state Sen. Adriano Espaillat stood at 1,032 votes, with enough outstanding ballots to alter the outcome.” poltico
I understand that, what I don’t get are these announcements.
They just do not mean anything, yet the press and followers act as though it is the announcement that determines the winner.
Recounts are a potent weapon for stealing elections.
Especially when you can find suitcases full of uncounted ballots in the trunks of abandoned cars.
Recounts are a potent weapon for stealing elections.
That’s ok. It’s just two dems fighting it out. They don’t cheat. it’s republicans that do. Just go ask them over at DU. They’ll tell ya.
“Recounts are a potent weapon for stealing elections.”
Who cares in this case. The morons in that district are just replacing a Black crook with a Hispanic crook, just like they did twenty years ago when they replaced Adam Clayton Powell with Rangel. The only difference between Rangel and Powell was they chose different Caribbean Islands to lay around on like beached whales most of the time.
