Roberts Opinions Sets Up a Scary Slippery Slope

Since the news that Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the majority in ruling that the Obamacare individual mandate is constitutional, there has been tremendous debate and analysis about the opinion that he offered. Liberals predictability praised the ruling and gloated that they knew it was constitutional all along - even though most of them never admitted or even implied that the mandate was tantamount to a tax (which is what Roberts determined). Conservatives praised other parts of the opinion which basically limited significantly the use of the commerce clause in any future legislation, and it also helps them promote their narrative that Barack Obama is just another tax-and-spend liberal.

Since the ruling, most polls show that most Americans still disapprove of Obamacare and of the Supreme Court's ruling about it. Future polls about Obamacare are likely to show even higher numbers of those disapproving of the act and the ruling. That is because the opinion provided by Roberts sets the stage for frequent and massive tax increases on any number of issues down the road.

Call anything a tax, no matter what it is, and it just became constitutional.

To stop any more Robertsgate crap, the word TAX has to be spelled out in a bill that passes the Congress and is signed by a Presiden, NOT a THING!

Our reps should never again vote on a bill WITHOUT READING IT!

If the word TAX were in the 0b0z0C0mmieCare, it would have NEVER passed the 60-vote democrap Senate!

Roberts looked for adulation from the MSM and the left; he got them and the promised wonderful legacy written by whom? THE LEFT!

Everything bad that happens in the US could be traced back to the MSM lies, the MSM silence or the MSM communist agenda blind support.

The communist MSM is the number one enemy of the USA and the West, no other entity comes close. They have to be punished heavily, one day.

There is NO “SILVER LINING” in the Robert’s ruling as some folks are trying to say—misuse of the commerce clause to justify future federal action has not been limited in any way by the Robert’s decision. We are on a major league slippery slope with liberty slip-sliding away; and we have John Robert’s despicable actions to thank for that sorry condition. Hope you’re very pleased with yourself John. Hope you enjoy the accolades that the Washington Post and the New York Times will be bestowing on you. I hope you and your wife enjoy the cocktail parties to which you will now be invited. Revel, while you can in this life, in the joys bought by your embrace and enabling of the forces destroying the remnants of our great Republic.

There will come a time when Justice Roberts despairs among the ruins of the American Republic that will be his legacy to his AND OUR children. He must be very proud of himself.

Wao... It will be interesting to know how Roberts came to this decision... Books will probably be written about it, but I am afraid he screw up royally and won’t be forgiven for it, by republicans any way.

Something else that Roberts has effectively OK'd is the total government control of every individual's life through taxation. Supporters of Obamacare who recognize the tax, say it's not a tax, it's a tax credit for people who are willing to play along. Nevermind that from the very beginning it IS a tax on EVERYONE!

Given Robert's ruling, the government can now place a $4000 tax on every taxpayer, and then give a $4000 "tax credit" for people who buy a Chevy Volt. Or how about a $2500 tax on every home, and then a $2500 "tax credit" if you install a "smart meter," giving the government control over your power usage.

There is simply NO END to the amount of social engineering this places in the hands of government, and in so doing, no limit of the amount of power and control over your life.

The Roberts ruling threw us off a cliff above a void that goes straight to Hell.

A slippery slope would be a luxury. We have no such luxury.

With the Kelo decision, I figured we were fast approaching the end of government protection of personal property. which is really the lynch-pin of liberty and freedom. With the government takeover of GM & Chrysler, we saw rampant lawlessness by the government in the breaking of bankruptcy and contract laws... Given that the government was supposed to protect the individual from these sorts of things, while both were perpetrated BY the government on individuals, the end was near.

Robert's decision was the last nail in the coffin of personal freedom and liberty, in granting government total control over every aspect of the individual's life through taxation.

True, except that Congress would have to go through traditional means of passing that legislation and then try to get re-elected.

Which is why the dems are trying to get as many people dependant on government as possible, by expanding food stamps and extending the vote to illegal aliens.

The dems know they can always depend on Paul's vote, when they rob Peter to pay Paul.

It is the last nail, Mark.

I fear a large number of people fail to realize what happened on Thursday. Many of them are running around trying to find some victory in it, but there is none.

We were made slaves on Thursday.

There is about one thing we can do at this point, and that is await our orders from our owners.

Anyone with a love of Liberty can clearly see that this decision is ominous for our Liberties. It is the most destructive of decisions.

Roberts is an extremely EVIL human being. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about that subhuman cretin.

As each day passes, I find myself more angry at the purposeful act by a man who isn't worthy to be called an American.

The evil Roberts has gleefully committed High Treason against our beloved Constitution.

I absolutely agree with everything you’ve said.

I find my attitude deteriorating each day as well.

It is as if there is no point to anything anymore.

One thing has become absolutely clear to me.

Evil reigns.
