Kids who bullied bus monitor suspended for a year, assigned to reform school

You need closure.

Following individual meetings this week with school and district administrators, each family waived their right to a hearing and agreed to one-year suspensions from school and regular bus transportation. The Greece Central School District is legally required to provide all students ages 5 to 16 with an education, therefore, during the 2012-13 school year, the students who have been suspended will be transferred to the district Reengagement Center, located in a non-school facility. This alternative education program keeps middle school students on track academically while providing a structured opportunity for students to take responsibility for their actions by completing community service hours and receiving formal instruction related to conduct and behavior that prepares them for a productive future. The program includes a strong parent involvement component.

Each student will be required to complete 50 hours of community service with senior citizens and will complete a formal program in bullying prevention, respect and responsibility. In accordance with district policy, if at 30 weeks into the school year the students have completed the conditions of their discipline and are in good standing at the Reengagement Center, they can apply for early readmission to Athena Middle School.

Too much, too little, or just enough? A year’s a stiff sentence for 10 or so minutes of verbal harassment, as nasty as it was, but the school district’s under immense pressure to be strict with the little cretins. And this incident’s playing out, of course, amid growing awareness culturally of how bad the effects of bullying can be. Crack down on this bunch and you send a national message given the spotlight on this case.

Because I know you’re wondering, the donations for Klein now stand north of $668,000. Per the Times, more than 30,000 people have contributed from all 50 states and 82 countries. Two days ago, she finally met the man who came up with the idea. Here’s the vid from WGRZ.

This guy is the prime example of a stealth lib. He is blaming the victim, excusing the aggressors and avoiding legitimate fact while injection opinion as his own.

The recent purge missed one it seems.

The $600K+ question is how much latitude was she granted by THAT particular incarnation of the employment position, to effect such an end.

You know that damn well, you ass hole.

They wouldn’t learn a thing with 3-6 mo suspension from a school bus. Maybe that’s your aim. If they’d had parents worth anything, they’d never have had the mindset to act in this manner.

Some people on FR overdo the Manichean-Ayn Rand philosophy - to the point of having very little pity or understanding of others.

Personally, I'm so glad the little tykes videotaped this horror. Sunlight IS the best disinfectant.

Her job was to maintain order on a school bus and was paid $75.00 and hour of tax payer money to do so.

She was not a victim of aggression, only a victim of her own incompetence.

As C. S. Lewis put it, castrates then bids the geldings be fruitful. Which is what libs do with their utopian schemes. You’d think Uncle would be upset with the way these figureheads have their hands tied, but no!

Add me to your shocked list.

Maybe the 'too harsh' crowd missed the parts where the little sociopaths mentioned breaking into her house and another future Ted Bundy talked repeatedly about STABBING HER.

Then afterward, when one of little maggot's father said, 'My son has already "suffered enough" because his face was now on YouTube'. -- my head almost exploded! It was no wonder to me where sonny boy got his attitude from. Daddy is a low-life cretin too.

So I hope these little brats enjoy their year in 'Juvy Jail School'. They'll meet REAL Bullies who would stab them for their lunch money, or shoot them for their shoes if they met on the street. They'll also see on day one what being tough is all really all about and Daddy won't be able to buy their way out of trouble, or have mommy there to wipe their bloody nose.

Back in my public school days in Chicago (50's & 60's) the 'Elementary Reform School' was called Montefiore. You also got sent there if you kept flunking and got to an age too old for Elementary School. And if you were white, it was almost like a death sentence (daily beat downs). Most became 100% truants and formally dropped out as soon as they could -- with a 7th Grade Education. I have one older loser cousin who was it, and he deserved it, in spades. (and I still don't like him)

What are the odds he’s either a school board member or a homeowners assoc wannabee?

Seems likely to me with his....logic.

...hire R. Lee Ermey as their “teacher.”

This incident is just another example of the dumbing-down of our culture, morals, ethics, etc. There was a time when school busses did NOT require a 'monitor.'

Speaking of Emery, if they had monitors, symbolically this is how a bus monitor would have handled this incident by the precious snowflakes thugs pre-1960's (when this country started losing it).

Presently, this is how school districts expect monitors to handle these thugs precious snowflakes.

“The $600K+ question is how much latitude was she granted...”

Being that she had been earning $75.00 an hour and gullible people sent her $600,000.00 I would guess here Latitude is around 18.10’S which would put her in Fiji.

Unless, of course, parents get smart and home school them.

They are sometimes called alternative schools. Also, its a growing industry to place these youth in residential treatment facilities ( I’ m administrator/special ed teacher in classroom with these youth). If they fail to adjust they go to even stricter living/educational setting. Most do their time and end up back in these same systems until they turn 18.

That’s a ruling even Roberts couldn’t screw up based on all available evidence on this thread ;)

If she gets to retire in Fiji, as far as I am concerned, that’s wonderful.

But she seems the kind who cares. She might well plow most of that back into community or church projects. But not Uncle’s House Of Fiddle Around. (Allusion to Tommy)

One should not accept a job that they cannot handle.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

One should not accept a job with conditions that make doing the job impossible. And.... Some jobs are simply evil.

So....I have NO NO NO sympathy for teachers who complain:

—” The administration makes me pass failing students on to the next grade.”

—” The administration forces us to have a godless classroom and forces us to make the students think and reason godlessly.”

—” The administration makes us give gay literature books to the students.”

—” The administration won't let us teach about the Founding Fathers.”

—”The administration won't let us have an American flag in the classroom.”

—The administration makes me take the students to the yearly gay-perversion day long school festival.

— The administration won't let us say the Pledge of Allegiance”

—’The administration won't let us discipline the students.”

Daddy and son remind me of Eric Harris and his psycho father, Wayne. For years, the father made excuses for his little murderer. The kid had explosives in his closet and mummy and daddy didn’t know it. To this day, Father Harris refuses to acknowledge that he or his wife were in any way responsible for Columbine.

“But she seems the kind who cares.”

The only thing that matters in a job is performance and for this lady was incapable of performing her job.

I’m sure there are other folks who would be more than happy to be a bus monitor for almost $75.00 an hour.

As for the kids, yes they are brats deserving of discipline, but the school system has no choice by the attempt to educate them. The school bus monitor can and should be replaced for doing a bad job.
