The White House released its annual report to Congress on staff salaries. At 4:39 p.m. on Friday.

A quick review found the White House payroll appears to have grown since last year, going from $37.1 million in 2011 to $37.8 million in 2012. The number of employees listed also grew -- from 454 last year to 468 in 2012.

Pretty soon the only people better off today than four years ago will be those in Congress, White House and ... Gitmo.

I’m actually pretty amazed at how low the salaries are; tough to actually live on $40K in DC, and there are many in the $40-50K range.

Of course it’s real easy to get whatever kids out of college you want as junior staffers due to the prestige.

If you look at whitehouse.gov., president's schedule page, you will see only 2009 report. It's after you open that, that 2010, 2011 and 2012 show up. 2009 started with 487 employees, 2010-469, 2011-454 and no count is given on the 2012 report but I guess someone here added them up. Jarrett is shown each year with the $172,200 salary and I checked Gibbs (before Carney) and that's what he was paid too - same as Carney now. I still want to know WHY employees of the administration get to spend their time on the reelection campaign of obozo while we pay their salaries. If you mean “the” Carney - yeah - $172,200 per year - same as Valerie Jarrett. The 2012 report is difficult to read but I didn’t see anyone else making that much just scanning it.

Sorry - looked again and John Brennan makes that amount and someone in the “C’s” but I stopped looking - as I said, it really strains the eyes the way it’s reported for this year. I guess it was planned that way.
