McConnell: I'll repeal Obamacare as majority leader
By SEUNG MIN KIM | 6/29/12 3:12 PM EDT

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) declared Friday that repealing the health care law would top his priority list if he controls the chamber come 2013.

“If [Mitt] Romney is in the White House and I am the majority leader of the Senate, I assure you repeal of Obamacare is the first item on the agenda,” McConnell on Laura Ingraham’s radio show Friday.

By using a budget process called reconciliation, a theoretical Senate GOP majority could successfully vote to repeal the law with just 51 votes, rather than a filibuster-proof 60. Republicans need to pick up four seats to win control of the Senate, or three if Romney wins the White House.

“Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) declared Friday that repealing the health care law would top his priority list if he controls the chamber come 2013.”

Based on his past track record, this promise rates right up there with “the check’s in the mail.”

I want new Senate and House leadership come Jan. 2013. McConnell and Boehner are beyond an embarassment.

Besides, someone explain how they avoid the filibuster. There has to be some sort of loophole for that.

Reconciliation. It passed by reconciliation with less than 60 votes, it can be repealed by reconciliation with only 51 votes. Especially given that there is no more ambiguity...it IS a tax.

This should have been labeled as satire.

Hey Mitch; time to retire you spineless fossil! I think this guy gets more animated taking a crap than he does fighting the Dems.

Sadly, It's guys like this whom Rubio seems to be modeling his positions/demeanor after.

Umm, he doesn’t say he’ll repeal it.

He’ll just list it as the first item on his “agenda”.

He’s trolling for votes, IMO.

Promises, promises.

All we need now is for Myth to do the same, publicly again.

Why do most politicians in their 70s, appear as spoiled 7 year olds?

Government just seems to attract these people.

That is so true! According to Michael Savage they all wanted this. Both Dems and Repubs.

Explaining why McConnell made this statement is easy.

What he is doing is asking the undecideds or even people who hate him personally as leader, to vote for a Republican Senate and by that he has the votes to repeal, whereas right now, he does not.

It is a little like Newt’s contract, in that it says, give us the votes and we will do X.

You have attracted to your thread a plethora of comments that hate on McConnell. He’s far from my leader choice as well. But his statement isn’t wrong, they just don’t like who is making it.

If it was someone they liked and respected, and he or she said this, they would pull a Rush and say, right on right on right on right on.

LOL! At least we know the political winds are blowing for repeal. These windsockers are so obvious.

Repeal Obamacare AND McConnell . He doesn't need to be majority leader--he sucks. Just another gutless wonder. Boehner needs to go, too.

LOL!! Anybody remember the debt ceiling debate... the DADT issue... I could go on.

This guy will be the first to roll over in the spirit of cordiality and cooperation. Translation... as soon as the dems apply pressure, this guy folds over like a cheap suit.

In this time when we need resolute leadership, principles, and a spine of steel, all we have is squishes at all GOP positions.

The dems know that, when push comes to shove, they own these guys.

I can’t decide if Mitch is limp, a simp, a gimp, a wimp or a pimp...or all of the above. Do some thngs dramatic NOW to get in the face of the loser DIMs before the election. Let’s see what you’re made of, Mitch. We need more than words.

This picture makes my stomach turn. And, it’s recent (5/16/12??). The thought of breaking bread with these three dims is repulsive.

I don’t think Mitch knows “dramatic”. As a matter of fact, my impression is that “dramatic” would make him feel very uncomfortable. I see him more as a “lets all be friends” and “I want the dems to like me” kinda guy.

This makes me want to puke.

This spineless RINO grifter promising to actually do something when his record doesn’t show him doing SQUAT.

If we have a Majority Republican Senate next year, Dear God, find someone with a spine to run it.
