Google bans gun sales on US shopping center
DailyCaller ^

Google is banning the sale of weapons and ammunition within its shopping center, causing firearms owners to second guess their use of the search giant.

The company announced on May 31 that it would be changing its product search policies for Google Shopping.

“All of the items in your feed must be in compliance with Google Shopping policies,” the company said on the site’s support center. “In particular, all items have to be family safe.”

.....

“Google now has a worse policy than ebay,” wrote The Firearm Blog, which posted the email on its blog Thursday.

The eBay policy allows the sale of “some personal defense items, such as pepper spray and mace,” BB gun ammunition, non-military issued body armor and weapons manuals.

“Shame on you Google,” said The Firearm Blog.

FU Google!

Few things are more family friendly than passing down the love of guns.

Google seems to be too ideologically stupid to realize what good money is to be made in gun sales. Conservative money won’t flow into Liberal pockets, so no loss for us.

I buy locally or from CheaperthanDirt.com.

Freepers should avoid Google and its products. Its search engine is a data mining operation. The Chrome browser and its Gmail service are spyware. They read your mail, look at your web use, and generally invade your privacy. The only thing worse than Google is Facebook.

I use Microsoft Bing for search and Microsoft for email. They’re not perfect, but their business is selling software and services, not data mining.

My reloading supplies come from midwayusa.com and cabelas for everything else. I have the Cabela’s Black Visa which gives me 5% off all purchases at Cabela’s. And this can be used in conjunction with sales, which adds up quickly.

Would love to see how many criminals purchase from Cabela’s. Criminals steal guns......Google, like all leftists, do not understand that simple fact.

It’s no big deal. You can still google ammo and it will still lead you to all the online sellers.

I log out of my email account and use ixquick.com while searching. Supposedly, they don’t store your search results.

The only Cabela’s near us is in Mass, and I’m not heading down there any time soon for gun related purchases (I’m in NH).

I don’t trust Google, don’t know what a google shopping center is a never surf the net using it anyways. I guess this would be a good reason for my mistrust.

Utter bullsh!t.

Do Google shopping search for "dildo".

Their family must be a lot more screwed up than mine if they think sex toys are ok for "family" use but .22lr isn't.

Perhaps. Or perhaps they are legally cautious. Google's an awful deep pocket if some clever lawyer finds a sympathetic judge and a way to do a class action suit.

Could be. I know Walmart rolled over here in NH when someone got shot with a shotgun, the media made a big deal out of it, and Walmart stopped selling shotguns except for one store in Concord. The thought was that they could limit their liability somehow by limiting their shotgun sales to one location. So, that situation has been in place for a few years, but they announced earlier this year that they would be expanding sales locations again for shotguns. Go figure. NH also took a big turn Right in 2010, and we’ll probably get a Republican gov this fall also.

“In particular, all items have to be family safe . . . “

I can think of few activities better suited for families than recreational shooting. And safe? Safety comes from training and familiarization. The family that shoots together is the one with children who know how to handle guns safely. The people who run and hide (Google, for example) are the ones who are unsafe with guns.

Your search - shotguns - did not match any shopping results.

Suggestions:

Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
Try different keywords.
Try more general keywords.
