Conservatives to Mitt: Quit Now If You Won't Fight Obamatax!
Breitbart ^ | 7/2/12 | Joel B. Pollak

Posted on 07/02/2012 10:47:53 AM PDT by Nachum

The Obama campaign has seized on remarks made by Romney adviser Eric "Etch-A-Sketch" Fehrnstrom this morning on MSNBC, to the effect that the individual mandate in Obamacare (and Romneycare) is not a tax. Fehrnstrom allowed Chuck Todd to push him off message--and re-ignited the fears that conservatives have long had about Romney's will and ability to fight. In response, conservatives--who had just coalesced around opposition to what many now call "Obamatax": Mitt, start fighting, or give up and let someone else do it.

Fehrnstrom's point--in defense of Romneycare--was that the Supreme Court was wrong to uphold Obamacare under the taxing power. The individual mandate was never intended to be a tax, Congress never called it a tax, and it wasn't a tax in Massachusetts, either. Fine--but now that Obama's lawyers went to court and called it a tax, and Chief Justice John Roberts called it a tax (and spare us the non-distinction between "tax" and the "taxing power") Obamacare is, undeniably, a massive tax on the middle class. Obama lied. It's that simple.

The GOP primary is over, and this is not a mistake that Fehrnstrom can merely shake away. It's going to be used--and already is being used--by the Obama campaign to save itself from the tax argument, and to label Romney as a liar (when that label belongs squarely on Obama, who campaigned against Hillary Clinton's individual mandate in 2008). Perhaps this is why Rupert Murdoch has been calling openly for Romney to "drop...old friends from [his] team and hire...some real pros," as he did on Twitter yesterday.

You and your lying, cheating Master know NOTHING about
normal standards. THAT is why you impose STATISM.

The fact is, Mr. RomneyCARE could not even set standards for dog care.

Romney's bad behavior Exposed by Seamus

"Romney Loses Nomination Over Dog Abuse? -
Romney was traveling that summer with his wife, five sons,
and Seamus to his parent's cottage on Lake Huron.
But hours into the ride, Seamus apparently suffered diarrhea,
which ran down the back window of the car.
David Kravitz wrote on BlueMassGroup, a liberal blog.
"It also strikes me as classic Romney:
it solves a problem efficiently, in a business-like manner,
and with no regard whatsoever for the suffering
that the solution may cause."

"But the details of the event are more than unseemly
- they may, in fact, be illegal.
Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws
specifically prohibit anyone from carrying an animal
"in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise,
in an unnecessarily cruel or inhuman manner
or in a way and manner which might endanger
the animal carried thereon.

"An officer for the Massachusetts Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded
to a description of the situation saying
"it's definitely something I'd want to check out."
The officer, Nadia Branca, declined to give
a definitive opinion on whether Romney broke the law
but did note that it's against state law to have a dog
in an open bed of a pick-up truck, and
"if the dog was being carried in a way that endangers it,
that would be illegal."

"Dog on Roof? What Was It Like for Romney's Pooch?
- Scientists Say Dog Likely Experienced Wind-
Whipped, Uncomfortable Trip -
"Before beginning the drive, Mitt Romney put Seamus,
the family's hulking Irish setter, in a dog carrier and
attached it to the station wagon's roof rack.
e'd built a windshield for the carrier, to make
the ride more comfortable for the dog,
".. Jordan Kaplan, the owner of Petaholics,
a dog walking service in New York City,
and a lifelong dog owner and dog lover,
said Romney's actions were uncalled for"

"Romney's dog - This is a distinction Mitt Romney
probably could do without, but he is surely
the first presidential candidate to be attacked
for putting a dog with diarrhea
in a carrier and tying it to the top of a station wagon.
Romney's defense: Seamus liked it.
[like the citizens under Romney's RomneyCARE, etc.?] "

"As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered
the way-back of the wagon, keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window,
where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble.
''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!''
A brown liquid was dripping down the back window,
payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding
on the roof in the wind for hours.
As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust,
Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station.
There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus
and the car, then hopped back onto the highway."

as usual, your generalizations don’t apply and ignore the situation on the ground TODAY.

I sent money to Newt and voted in the Caucus for Santorum.

Now we have only one course of action to defeat Obama.

If that isn’t enough for you, don’t pretend it’s my problem.

Now we know how you reach your big picture, well informed conclusions.

I’m more conservative than you ever thought of being.

I’m also realistic enough to recognize the only path forward for this nation is the one without Obama at the helm.

Blind hatred for Romney is NOT that path.

Try addressing the issue rather than sweeping it away. My statements apply. On the ground. Today. And every day. When you want to address them honestly, I’ll be waiting.

There is only ONE “issue”!

Defeating Obama!

If you have another “issue”, you’re wasting your time.

Honestly!

“Scalia also said it is not a tax, in the dissent”

Thanks for that clarification.

To me Scalia/Romney are saying it should not have been passed on either the commerce clause, or some interpretation of Tax aka Roberts Opinion.

In that regard calling it a penalty appears to be the correct interpretation.
Hence Romneys, Bad Law, Bad Policy comments.

YOU are fighting the only alternative.

Deal with it!

Hey, Zippy. YOU are backing the CHOSEN LOSER.

CHOSEN BY the DNC and MSM and OBAMA.

======> CHOSEN TO LOSE.

DEAL WITH THE TRUTH, if you can.

If I have to elect a liberal to save America, then America is not worth saving because it no longer ‘is’ America. That’s the only issue there is.

I think that if there could be a floor struggle at the convention Romney has the best chance of winning. However, a floor fight would be a hard push on Romney to keep a conservative platform. If Romney would win the nomination and then POTUSA ,I believe he would be very constrained to stay with the platform or face only one term.

Second sentence:

“He will then work with Congress to repeal the full legislation as quickly as possible.”

What on earth makes you think any significant opposition to Romney can be mounted in Tampa?

Is that too late for rebellion?

Mr. RomneyCARE and his Legion of Backstabbers
attacked Gov/VPCandidate Palin and her children
ON THE EVE of Election 2008.
That was long after the nomination (which
the backstabber Mr. RomneyCARE does not have yet).

But I’m very afraid that we’re going to end up splitting the vote and keeping Obama.

The liberals are splitting their votes between mitt and obie.

All Conservatives need to do to win this election is to vote for the only Conservative in the race - Virgil Goode.

Funny you should mention this myself6. Yesterday I posted for the first time:

It is obvious that posters on FR are very familiar with the problems with Obamacare and the dangers that it poses, but I am not so sure that the rest of the electorate is up to speed. We are going to need a conservative leader who can lead the charge for repeal. Mitt Romney, as the author of Romneycare- the Obamacare prototype- is the only Republican alive who has no credibility on this issue. He is a weak candidate in many ways but very weak on this issue, which has become a primary issue in the upcoming election.

Given that the GOP Convention has not yet been held, and Romney is particularly exposed on this issue (and recent events have demonstrated weakness on immigration as well), should we not rally a challenge to Romney at the Convention?

I suggest that we have a rapid, on-line convention to choose a candidate. Palin seems obvious. (I have noticed a softening of some toward Palin and where she was once seen as a punchline, everytime I see her recently, she is being asked for her opinion as a seasoned politician and pundit.) Take the name to the floor (Palin or other if anyone has suggestions) and challenge the candidate on the floor of the convention.

If Romney survives the challenge, fine, hold noses and vote for him, and let the chips lie where they may, just as we had all intended. But shouldn’t we give this a go? The convention is not for several weeks. This might work.
