Black House Members Force Congress to Vote on Reprimand for Issa

A day after House Republicans voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress, the members of the Congressional Black Caucus got their revenge by forcing the House today to vote on a resolution scolding California Rep. Darrell Issa, the engineer behind the contempt vote, for mistreatment of Holder and behavior that they claim was against House rules.

Rep. Barbara Lee of Texas decided to take the response a step further today by putting forth a “privileged resolution” that picked apart Issa’s handling of the Holder case through his House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Lee requested that the House clerk read her entire resolution out loud so that she could get it on the House record. Among the accusations in the resolution are that Issa: “jeopardized an ongoing criminal investigation by publicly releasing documents that his own staff has admitted were under court seal”; that he took steps that could “potentially jeopardize a criminal conviction”; that he “has engaged in a witch hunt, through the use of repeated incorrect and uncorroborated statements in the committee’s ‘Fast and Furious’ investigation”; and that he “has chosen to call the Attorney General of the United States a liar on national television without corroborating evidence and has exhibited unprofessional behavior.”
Republicans were able to table the resolution by a vote of 259 to 161. Issa had no response. But Lee got what she wanted: to show House Republicans that two could play the political shame game.

I can not disagree with you on the numbers. Eighty seven percent is big. They still went tribal. The have thier own reality distortion field. Forget logic it’s will power and theater. They will get as much coverage as Issa. He will try to speak to the truth and they will speak in tongues. The game has changed. We ain’t going back for long time.

I understand your concern, but the new tribalism at least as featured in the news seems to be concentrated in the urban superghettos of southern California, New Jersey, NYC, Philly, and Miami. The game changing you mention is IMO the information technology revolution. And that is a sword that cuts both ways. It exposes as much as it empowers.
The luxury for me in retirement is living in what is usually described as the last-of-all-fifty-states-in-everything, the great state of South Carolina.

Wonder why.....after all, S.C. is thirty percent black, not much less than Mississippi. Around here, though, black & white people say please, thank you, and have a blessed day. On Sunday the police block traffic so the church folks can cross the street.
Oh... did I forget something? Let’s see, CCW is easy to obtain & you don’t need one to carry in your car. Stand your ground is old hat here. Gun shows are every other month at the fairgrounds. And what do you call an eight year old who just shot his/her first deer? A late starter. Don’t know where I’m going with this, but this is a generally gun friendly state. An armed society is a polite society, that sort of thing.
Tribes? Here, if you prefer 30-06 you’re one tribe, if you lean toward .300 Winchester Mag, you’re in another. But communications are good between the various tribes.

Queen Barbara has a law degree from Harvard. She also wanted the Mars rover driven to where it could take pictures of the flag planted on the Moon. There is no minimum intelligence needed to become a politician or gain admittance to Harvard.
The picture with the article in the Atlanta paper is of Barbara lee but is misidentified as being from TX.
Barbara Lee is from California and has Ron Dellums’ old district. She won her last race by a margin of 180,400 to 23,054. I haven’t checked the boundaries of her district but I think it’s mainly Oakland and Berkeley.
He is definitely one of a very few! He is a certified American Hero!
