This US summer is 'what global warming looks like'

WASHINGTON (AP) - If you want a glimpse of some of the worst of global warming, scientists suggest taking a look at U.S. weather in recent weeks.

Horrendous wildfires. Oppressive heat waves. Devastating droughts. Flooding from giant deluges. And a powerful freak wind storm called a derecho.

These are the kinds of extremes climate scientists have predicted will come with climate change, although it's far too early to say that is the cause. Nor will they say global warming is the reason 3,215 daily high temperature records were set in the month of June.

So we're doomed again . . .

And this weather has been local. Europe, Asia and Africa aren't having similar disasters now, although they've had their own extreme events in recent years.

Or maybe not.

The derecho is not a freak occurrence. They’ve been happening all along. We now have a word for them.

And a powerful freak wind storm called a derecho.

Sorry but adding a hispanic name to a windstorm does not make it a freak storm.

Here in Melbourne, Australia, we’re told the drought for the past decade was caused by global warming, now we’re receiving massive rain because of global warming

The horrendous wildfires in recent years (since Indonesia which actually darkened the skies around the world) have in many cases been set. Everybody take a wild guess...

Weather is only climate when it is hot.

Cold weather is simply weather.

I assume the record snowfall in Anchorage, AK this past winter was do to global warming as well.

But we’ll say it is anyway.

In my area of Michigan we’re experiencing a very localized drought. 20 or 30 miles away in all directions is getting plenty of rain but here we’re bone dry.

I was in Hilton Head, SC the first week in June and in never went over 80 degrees. Usually we go in May and it is in the 90s. I thought it has been a below average year, aside from last week’s heat wave. I couldn’t even get into our pool until about 10 days ago becaus ethe water was too cold.

Obama said he could change the levels of the oceans. And he may have. Just think, this is the type of weather experienced in the 1930’s.

So we get the second coming of FDR and he brings that frigging weather with him. Should we also get ready for dust bowls, soup lines and world wide wars?

More global cooling/warming/climate change idiocy.

Last winter was one of our mildest in decades.

The previous winter was one of the worst in decades [beat the all-time state snowfall record by 0.5 inch.]

I recall some summers from the 1950s that had devastating heat waves and droughts.

Some probably remember that period from the 1930s called the Dust Bowl.

Anything for more grant money.

I read this article this morning, just to kill some time.

I was looking for one thing - the “solution” that he proposed. It really was only mentioned in passing, in closing - government funded PV solar panels.

Well, Eugene, if that was the only agenda of the global warming crowd, you would get that much pushback. No, the agenda is definitely anti-capitalist and anti-energy in general.

If the “solutions” to these “crises” proposed by the left ever become anything other than an expansion of government power over our lives (ie, communism), we will start listening to you. Until then, shove it.

SETH BORENSTEIN, you idiot.

This is what it is like with decades and decades of gubbmint willful neglect, and what will be like SOLELY dependent on gubbmint for all your needs.

Granted some stuff you can not do without in your daily living amongst the society. But to stretch it to global warming fearmongering is simply wishful thinking.

When our sun entering its final days, yes, everything and everyone will be baked, but nor for a very long long time yet. And there's nothing the human can do about it. Unless we can all get off the planet, that is.
