Chinese Airline Passengers Demonstrate "Let's Roll" To Terrorist Hijackers

Terrorism: Six hijackers were in for a surprise last week when they tried to commandeer a Tianjin Airlines jet bound for Urumqi, China. The passengers overpowered the gang, apparently killing two, and averted disaster.

Seems "let's roll" translates very well into Chinese. In this case, the language was Uighur, the language of China's restive western state of Xinjiang, where an Islamic separatist movement with some links to al-Qaida has been active.

Last Friday, in the city of Hotan, six ethnic Uighurs aged 26 to 30, rose from their seats after takeoff, three in front and three in back, and tried to hijack the flight that was headed for the capital, Urumqi.

According to passenger accounts written on Chinese microblogs, some tried to break into the cockpit as others tried to set off explosives.

"They had a long crutch that can be broken into pieces, and the pieces had sharp ends," wrote a microblogger who claimed to be a friend of a man in the aisle-15 window seat, as cited by the Associated Press.

It seem like everytime I beat some ethnic Uighurs to death on plane I feel like I need to do it again an hour later...

The lingering question we all have - of course - is will the passengers be charged for the death of the two terrorists? LOL

If it happened in the United States, the passengers would have been arrested. Yes, I am that cynical.

It sure does. The translation is: "Wet's Whoa!"

East Turkestan is no more Chinese than Tibet is. Yes, these may have been Islamic terrorists (who knows, they are dead), but the Ughuirs have the same right to reclame their liberty, stolen by the PRC 64 years ago, that the Tibetans do.

You deserve two minutes in the box but that’s funny.

Admittedly, it's a report from Chinese state media, and Uighur activist groups say it was just a seating dispute, not a hijacking. But there are an awful lot of cell phone photographs of the incident and Chinese witness accounts to suggest a hijack attempt.

Note to self: resolve seating disputes before plane is in the air.

Why should they be, if four terrorists were captured alive for questioning? I hope you don't expect the Chinese state to need those two deceased ones for any purpose other than harvesting of their organs?

On a more serious side, there was police on the airplane (probably air marshals) and the crew (who would have authority over passengers.) The terrorists were reportedly armed with weapons known and unknown, and with explosives. It would be very unwise to stop fighting the terrorist until you are very sure that he cannot press a button on a radio detonator, or something. Those that got tied up are very lucky - they will live a few months more, though perhaps not in comfort.

The only bad thing that comes out of this is crutches. Now US passengers who are in need of them will be harassed even more.

NPR Announcer:    Good evening and welcome to "Ask the Imam", the informative new segment where you can ask questions of a genuine Islamic Imam.

ATI Announcer:    This week's question was sent in by Mr. Mohammad Y of Detroit, Michigan.  Mr. Y prefers that we not refer to him by his slave name, Floyd Knockwurst.

Here is the question:

"If my Jihadii cousin, Muamar is tossed out of an airplane at an altitude of seven thousand metres by three Chinese "dogs" and splatters into a pig wallow at 189.1 kph, will he still be entitled to his 72 virgins?"

Imam:                   I quote to you from the 47th verse of the 83rd Secret Sura of the Quran:

"Ooh babalu, moo, moo, moo, koo koo kachoo".

I remind you that this holy and sacred quotation cannot be translated from the original Arabic.

ATI Announcer:    Our thanks to His Holiness the Imam Muhammad Kamal Doong al Kalahari.

Please join us again next week for another inspiring and informative episode of "Ask the Imam".

NPR Announcer: And now back to our pledge drive.

I hope someone took video footage of the incident. I am sure it was better than a Bruce Lee movie. It should be labelled “Enter the Uighur Dragon”.
