I was just getting ready for tomorrow's July 4th celebrations when I heard Rep. Joe Walsh's latest smears and had to let you know. Tammy Duckworth needs our support!
He's said many disgraceful things about Tammy, her service and veterans in the past, but this is beyond the pale - on the eve of the 4th of July, Joe Walsh wants vets to shut up about their service.

I was an elected official for 20 years in her district. I'm familiar with her MO and tactics. She's bad news bears, playing on the wounded veteran gambit since the beginning of her political aspirations.
The top of this thread starkly shows how quick some kneejerk freepers are to attack a true conservative like Walsh on the basis of slanted media reports just to try to show us how much more "appreciative", how much more "noble", how much more "patriotic" they are in "supporting veterans" than we ungrateful ingrates who know Duckworth for who she is......even if the socialist vets they drool over are toxic left-wingers or radicals and bad for the country......like veterans Kerry and others of his ilk were and are.

let’s not devour our own. Duckworth needs to be defeated. Sorry about her injury but that’s not relevant.
There is no playing on this end....socialism, right or left, is a cancer to everything this country was founded upon and what the world used to look up to.
Too many FReeper’s are playing into the politics instead of the principles and spirit of our constitution.
There are reasons that there are RINO’s....that would be us.

BTW, just asking, at what point did you fail to understand that “I really don’t care” was about her affiliation having nothing to do with the debate at hand?
This was, and still is about the wisdom of even mentioning anything about her military service in conjunction with her avoidance of the issues debated.

You don't understand. Nobody is attacking her service. They are attacking her phony “if you don't support me you hate veterans” narrative. She is playing the victim and demanding people vote for her for a job she is not qualified for simply because she is a veteran.
When the VFW endorsed her opponent her campaign had a hissy fit claiming they were ashamed the VFW didn't support veterans. They called it a “slap in the face”.
Her entire campaign is about nothing but support me because a lost my legs flying a helicopter that was shot down.
Her father was a general. She is a female. She probably received special promotions and assignments she was not entitled to or qualified for.
I honor every veteran's service to our country, including Miss Duckworth’s. But that doesn't mean I support them if they brag about themselves, demand our pity and demand that they be given jobs they are not qualified for just because they were veterans.
Well stated, GilesB. All branches of service draw from the same population and, in many ways, have the same issues as the general population. Most are inspired and positively transformed by their military service. However, many are not and use their military experience and training for the wrong purposes.
Being a veteran does not automatically wrap one in ‘good intentions and results’.
My service? From Private to Major in the USMC.
As others have noted, then call her out on being a commie.
If anyone brings up her status as a wounded vet, they MAKE HER a 'victim' in the eyes of the voters--who'd pick on a wounded vet like that?
Leave that alone. If she dodges the issues and falls back on her having been wounded in the service, that will get lame sooner or later with the voters when she doesn't answer substantive questions.
Duckworth is a political opportunist. I appreciate her service and sacrifice but she is a leftist clown.
