Greenpoint is a beautiful area with a large Polish (read: hardworking, God-fearing) population. It also has one of the best views of Manhattan from the east.

Of course, your car might still be stolen there. It is, after all, Brooklyn.

The reason the city has pools is to keep the natives cool -- "cooling centers" - how's that for a nice, Orwellian-sounding name? I guess without them people would have to swim in one of the miles of rivers surrounding the City, and that might be dangerous!
