One of the most common mistakes made in political reporting is to assume that average voter is following the daily news cycle as closely as we are. He or she isnt.
The latest poll numbers from the Pew Research Center on the Supreme Courts decision on President Obamas health-care law are (yet another) affirmation of that fact. Forty-five percent yes 45 percent! of respondents in the Pew poll either didnt know what the court had done in regards the health care law (30 percent) or thought that the court had rejected most of the provisions of the law (15 percent).
Lets just make sure we are all clear: Forty-five percent of people didnt know about or were misinformed about the most highly publicized Supreme Court case since at least Bush v. Gore in 2000 that dealt with the landmark legislative accomplishment of Obamas first term in office. That is staggering stuff.
Inside the numbers was not surprisingly even more eye-opening. Among 18- to 29-year-olds, one of the electoral pillars on which Obamas 2008 victory was built, 43 percent didnt know anything about the court ruling, and other 20 percent thought the court had rejected most of the tenets of the law. That means that roughly two in every three young people didnt know or were mistaken about what happened Thursday at the court.

SIMPLE: Øbama is but a symptom of an illiterate ellectorate.
When was the last time you had the time or opportunity to read a 2,700 page book? This was all part of the design. We need an amendment that limits any Bill passed by Congress to be less than 30 pages.
Reality shows -The opiate of tne people!
But I’ll bet you 99% know that Snooki is pregnant.
And that’s the way it is July 4th, 2012.
No wonder we worry about the fate of our republic....
Now they want to know why people are ill-informed....they don’t want to look in the mirror....just media trying to explain their failure to report, instead they protected as a co-conspirator would, and NOW with it all falling apart they act dumbfounded.
IMO, probably the same group that don’t pay income tax.

One of the most common mistakes on FR is to assume that the average voter even cares; news is gleaned from “The Daily Show” (courtesy of the Comedy Channel), and is 100% accurate with no bias. /s
RE: But Ill bet you 99% know that Snooki is pregnant.
Who on earth is Snooki and out of the millions of pregnant women out there, why should we care that she is pregnant?
Snooki is a rare giant panda.
90% of folks only know about the “free stuff”.
Tremendous opportunity here for the GOP and Romney’s PACs to spend big bucks on dumbed-down ads on the entertainment channels, telling the politically illiterate what Obama is doing to them.
Which is exactly why they made it where the REAL clinchers didn’t start until after Obama was re-elected.
So her full name is actually “Snooki-Snooki”?
They’ll know soon enough when most find out they can’t get a tax refund again that will PO them more than anything else. If they aren’t paying attention and aren’t ill what else is gonna advise them something terrible has happened? Just because they passed a law saying you have to buy health insurance who all hears and knows this? My bet is not as many as our rulers think
