Obama to FactCheck.org: Drop dead
Politico ^ | 7/3/12 | ALEXANDER BURNS

Posted on 07/04/2012 8:20:14 AM PDT by Nachum

The Obama campaign accuses Mitt Romney in new campaign ad of being a “pioneer in outsourcing,” repeating a charge that the Romney campaign has strenuously contested over the past week.

The ad refers back to a June Washington Post story that showed Bain Capital invested in firms that created jobs overseas. The Romney campaign demanded a retraction of the story, to no avail, and more recently pointed to a FactCheck.org analysis questioning the “outsourcing” charge.

The Obama campaign has dismissed the FactCheck.org assessment as inaccurate and penned a letter to the truth-squadding website disputing its conclusions. And its newest commercial re-ups the attack on Romney’s business record.

“What a president believes matters,” the ad begins. “Mitt Romney’s companies were pioneers in outsourcing U.S. jobs to low-wage countries. He supports tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.”

“President Obama believes in insourcing. He fought to save the U.S. auto industry and favors tax cuts for companies that bring jobs home. Outsourcing versus insourcing. It matters.”

The whole FactCheck.org/Politifact/Glenn Kessler approach to covering the campaign has its uses, but one of the limitations is that it often blurs the difference between standard-issue political rhetoric and brazen, obvious distortion of the facts. Right now, the Obama campaign is casting undisputed facts of Romney’s records (Bain assets created jobs overseas and also cut jobs in the U.S.) in a very negative light (it created foreign jobs at the cost of the U.S. economy.) Romney’s response so far has been to try and discredit the whole line of attack as false and “vicious,” without really getting into the weeds of what it means to lead a major financial firm with a complex web of foreign entanglements.

Obama lied? Gee, who saw that coming?

I heard that Obama once got caught telling the truth, but he quickly lied his way out of it.

Romney would be better off saying that while the accusation is true, the Democrats are just as guilty...

Nobody likes a liar regardless of the party affiliation...

The solution here is to hit them back with something dirtier. There is so much material on Obama to do this with. Do a commercial on how he was a pothead for two years in high school and now still acts like a foolish druggy. While they are busy being offended with that, move on to an ad about his discount house deal and associations with Rezko. While they are defending that move onto him saying that he will not raise taxes, then discuss the healthcare tax impact on new college graduates that don’t have healthcare (because they are healthy) and how much they will be taxed for that privilege now. And we haven’t even hit him on the economy yet. So much more material.

In November, I hope most Americans will agree that being ruled by a Gangsta Prez sucks and we can go back to being a Constitutional Republic again.

I notice that the ad doesn't say who gets these "insourced" jobs, like cheap Mexican labor. Perhaps the Obama campaign could paint themselves as fans of "come-on-in sourcing".

He .....favors tax cuts for companies that bring jobs home.

Which is why he wants to raise our, already highest in the world, corporate tax rate.

That would be an absolute waste of time and money. The moment that ad aired, there would a collective rolling of eyes all over this country. There would be almost no one who cares, and any who do weren't going to vote for Obama, anyway.

This election cycle needs to be about "it's the ECONOMY, stupid!". THAT will get more folks' attention, because everyone, with the exception of the very rich, has been affected by the sorry state of the economy, brought on by 3-1/2 years of the policies and decisions of Barack Obama.

It would be an especially timely message for those young people who, at 18-22, voted for the 'cool black guy', but who now, having graduated from college with a Bachelor's or Master's degree, are struggling trying to find their first professional job in this Obama-created economy.

There were also companies who took stimulus (porkulus) funds and used them to set up shop in China. That’s another “insourcing” victory for Obama... We borrowed money from China to give to people to create jobs in China that we will have to pay back to China with interest...a huge economic win for the USA brought to us by team Obama.

And not go on the defensive all the time... he must come out with his own asymmetrical style of politics that puts Bamy on the ropes... Notice to the Romney Camp... do not try to answer every negative add, for when you do, it only makes you look guilty... instead simply hit back with more powerful damning information, stuff that makes them squirm. Own your own life's efforts to create wealth, because your position is always, more wealth to more people creates a more thriving economy.

Obama's position is to lower everyone (except for the bureaucrats) to the lowest human denominator, ie, the poorest. The Bureaucrats aim is to manage poverty and reward a subsistence to those who help keep them in power... your goal is to liberate as many as possible from under bureaucratic domination.

That would be a good tagline.
