Ten people were shot and three people died across the city Thursday night -- eight of them in a two-and-a-half hour window between about 4:10 p.m. and 6:35 p.m.
Police responding to a shots fired call found an 18-year-old man "unresponsive" in the 10600 block of South Champlain Avenue about 2:05 a.m. Friday with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. Someone reported hearing two "pops" but police didn't have any other information. The Cook County medical examiner's office identified him as Zachary Barrios, of the 9700 block of South Albany Avenue.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel was not hurt in any of the gun violence overnight.
Ergo, Chicago’s gun control laws are working perfectly.
Obama wants to bring this to all America.
Thursday is a slow day. Just wait until the weekend.
Where I work, we have a weekly over/under on the number of Chicago shootings and deaths therefrom over the weekend, defined at 5 PM Friday to 8 AM Monday.
Last week is was 6/29.
This week’s odds aren’t out yet.
I told someone on a Chicago thread a few weeks ago that once the temp hit 95+ they’d get back to “traditional” numbers.
How’s that midnight basketball working out for you Rahm?
What? You’re no longer doing midnight basketball? Well, there you go! It’s time to start midnight basketball in Chicago again. Problem solved.
When Rahm was running for mayor, he pledged to take steps to curb the violence in the city.
Has he taken any such steps?
Mayor Daley was deflated when Chicago’s bid for the Olympics fell short. Anecdotal evidence is that the International Olympic Committee was worried about Chicago’s crime rate.
I don’t know about the business climate in Chicago, but, so many constant reports about so much violence cannot make it easier to recruit new businesses, or keep existing businesses, in Chicago.
Such is life in the library desert.
I only saw the title and before I clicked on the link I said “Chicago again.”
And he did! Just look at the success of the latest gun ‘buy-back’. That gun club in Champagne was able to get $6200.00 to help them with their Ute firearm training.
Of course, I think the Ute firearm training classes would do a better job training Utes in Southern Utah or Colorado.
But that's just me.
Typically the “feral gangs”, young folks, don’t vote.
Chitown public schools need to train their feral yutes to have a steadier aim ,,,, at a rate of 3 dead and 7 wounded it will take Chitown forever to rid themselves of this problem .
