A group of diners angry that their food was taking too long shot and killed a cook in southern California in what police are calling “a random dispute that went tragically wrong.”
The cook, 38-year-old Raul Lopez, was working one of his two jobs he has to support his wife and five children. The killing took place at Hoagies & Wings on Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, Calif., and followed a dispute with racial undertones, reported a local news station.
Lopez was fatally shot in his chest when he tried to ward off five black men who were causing a disturbance in the restaurant. The men were angry about how long they had been waiting for their food and allegedly began using racial slurs at employees, causing other customers to leave, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Homicide detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department said Lopez then stepped in to defend the employees and get the men to leave. As the argument escalated he picked up a chair and led them out, but once outside he set the chair down and one of the men pulled out a semi-automatic weapon, shooting Lopez in the chest.
The men fled in a dark-colored Cadillac Escalade and Lopez was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later. Police said the suspects are African-American men in their 30s and have the build of football players—several are between 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-4 and weight more than 300 pounds.
Police have released surveillance footage of the shooting in the hope that someone with information can come forward. Lopez’s wife and children also appealed to the public for help finding the suspects.
“He was a very responsible man. He loved his family,” said 16-year-old Melesio Lopez, the oldest of Lopez’s children, at a press conference. “I just want justice.”

A man who would work two jobs to support a wife and five children, and confront five men built like football players to keep them from harassing employees, was made of stronger stuff than most. I pray his family will find justice and that a fund is set up to provide for his children. How sad.

I hate gun control with a passion but I am fast coming to the conclusion that in some cities, like Chicago, Detroit and some parts of Los Angles, Oakland, Stockton, people with guns, that do not have a permit to carry, should get an automatic 15 year jail sentence without possibility of getting out early.

Several months ago, two Caddys, exactly as described, pulled into the two handicapped spots at a local buffet joint. Buncha teenagers, and two health moms got out and went inside to gorge. I called the cops. It’s a $250 fine! 8^)
The division in this country is such that racially mixed jurors will not convict these criminals, especially if there ar gang ties.
Imagine. An African American cook working 2 jobs to support his family. A group of 5 racist whites call him racist names before killing him because their food was taking too long. Does ANYONE really think this would not be the #1 news story on every network for days if not weeks?

Were I a betting man my money would be on the Spanish speaking fellows. Their machismo is not all show and false bravado. And they have a ready supply of heavy weapons and foot soldiers just across the border. Their ancestors used to cut living hearts out of people for squirts and giggles and the current crop leave headless corpses laying around in bunches.
A few days ago, someone got mad at the cashier because our grocery store didn’t have what he wanted so threw something at her and spat on her. This sort of thing never happens here but it could be that times are changing.
Why not just leave and take your business elsewhere? What is wrong with the black community? They seem to be under the impression that so long as they are with a group of people there will be little to no consequences for their actions. Are blacks now incapable of thinking independently and saying something to their playmates when they start to get out of control?
That would certainly beat the system California has now, where people who are known violent murdering felons are coddled, protected from prosecution, given taxpayer subsidized apartments and stipends to purchase the guns that law abiding Californians can't ever hope to get a permit for.
That way, we can get all the law abiding Californians into those empty prison cells or graveyards, where they belong, for the temerity of thinking we have a Constitution.

In those cities, you can’t get a permit to carry. They use permitting to infringe our Constitutional rights. So, are you agreeing that there should be No-2nd Amendment zones in our country?
