Tom Cruise, other Scientology members dislike portrayal of a cult leader in new film 'The Master'

Tom Cruise’s fellow Scientology members would like to master “The Master.”

A source familiar with Paul Thomas Anderson ’s film about the founder of a Scientology-like religious movement tells us officials of the controversial church group “hit the roof” when they learned — presumably through Cruise — that the movie contains a scene which suggests the belief system was little more than a product of the leader’s fertile imagination.

In May, Anderson, who is friends with Cruise and directed him in “Magnolia,” the 1999 film that earned Cruise a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination — reportedly screened his film for the “Rock of Ages” star.

“The Master” is said to be loosely based on the life of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, and stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as Lancaster Dodd, the founder of a 1950s religious movement called The Cause.

Hubbard, a onetime writer of pulp and science fiction , founded the Church of Scientology in the ’50s.

Both the Wrap.com and Huffington Post reported other similarities between the fictional Dodd and the late Hubbard.

In High School, one of my friend’s family got into Scientology. I think it was called Dianetics. The Dad was a Chiropractor (what is it with Scientology and Chripractors?)

Anyway, they talked about the power of your mind, blah, blah, blah, and then did some silly “exercises” to show the energy we produced with our minds.

Except all of these “exercise” were things that kids do at Slumber Parties..like everyone pushing their arms down in a circle, then lifting someone efforlessly, or sitting next to each other, and doing some static elecricity thing with a balloon, then everyone touching gets a little shock.

So, everyone there thought it was a big crock, but the Chiropractor and his family moved to Hollywood, the kids became recruiters. One died mysteriously after we heard he wanted to leave..

What was the pitch? I ask because I am curious about how long it takes for them to introduce newbies to the Xenu stuff.
____________________________________________________________

From what I’ve read.....they don’t get into the “Xenu stuff” until OT (Operating Thetan) Level. IOW.........after A LOT of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

The general pitch is that scn can make you more able.

It can. But the big print giveth, and the fine print taketh away.

Newbies are NEVER, EVER, EVER introduced to the Xenu stuff.

According to scn dogma, mere exposure to those materials to someone not ready for them can result in death.

Oh, and we also all got free Dianetics books, and found it all really stupid, boring, and hard to get into.

Except for the Chiropractor..he thought it was the cat’s pajamas. This was a small town in TX,btw-about 2500 people or less. Most everybody in town was either Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, or Catholic. I wonder if growing up in a “Churchy” environment keeps people from joining Scientology.

Ah, so they wait until you have poured a buttload of money into the programme before they unleash the Xenu story on folks. Don’t they encourage current members to recruit more wallets, er, members?

Yes, with extra training on how to, and a percentage of whatever the newbie spends.

“Kaja Bordevich Ballo (1988 – March 28, 2008) was a university student in the French town of Nice; her father was Olav Gunnar Ballo, a member of the Norwegian Parliament. On March 28, 2008 Kaja Ballo took the personality test run by the Church of Scientology, and subsequently committed suicide. Family and friends stated that Ballo was happy prior to taking the test, and that her mood dramatically shifted after receiving the results. She committed suicide hours after getting the results of the test back; Ballo jumped from the fourth floor of her dorm room.”

Lawdy! Isn’t THAT what Obama and the ‘progs’ want for ALL of us???? Listen to his words, people! THEY are superior and are ‘here to help’. And we’re just (SP’s) ‘suppressive peoples’ if we don’t believe! Not ‘suggestive’......but DEMANDING. Christians ‘recommend’. Cults DEMAND.
