HOUSTON (AP) — The head of the NAACP says the group's fight against conservative-backed voter ID laws that have been passed in several states is akin to the great civil rights battles of the 1960s.
Benjamin Todd Jealous, the CEO and president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, told delegates at the group's annual convention on Monday in Houston that these are Selma and Montgomery times.

This is nuts. The two issues aren’t even close.
No one is saying black folk cannot vote. But if you have to provide ID to buy booze or get on an airplne or a train, you can bloody well supply one to exercise the franchise legally.

Sometimes I really get the impression that the NAACP and race baiters long for the days of the 60’s, they want that fight again.
It is almost like they don’t feel important any longer and need something to bring back their importance and usefulness.
No what this really “akin” to is the NAACP sying that either:
1) “Colored people” are too stupid or lazy to obtain a proper photo ID.
2) We are in favor of criminal, third world elections controlled by thieving, racist cheaters.
I have yet to hear a sensible argument as to why one should not be required to show photo ID at the polls. Why would you NOT want to? Unless you were up to no good, committing fraud, etc.
One thing is certain, the right will never mention that Obama is black while the left will take every opportunity to point out Romney is white. So who is racist?

Don’t you know that Republicans freed the slaves from the democrats? We’d like to do it again.
I vote using a mail in ballot. But there was a time when I would go to my local polling place to vote and every time I did I was asked for my ID. Not once was I offended or thought that unfair. But then, I think logically; I’m not a liberal.

Reaching for something, anything to prompt the race card.
Bingo. They can’t seem to accept that the 60’s are over. The things that were being fought for have long been won. At this point they are only diminishing themselves and turning their past victories into trifles. This is akin to what the women did when they called almost everything “rape”. Afterwhile nobody takes you seriously.
