S E N A T E C A N D I D A T E O F T H E W E E K: JOSH MANDEL
July 10, 2012 | firebrand

Posted on 07/10/2012 6:43:22 PM PDT by firebrand

This is the first of a series that will highlight some close Senate races for November.

Those of us in blue states are privileged to be able to support candidates in other states that have a better chance of winning than those in our own state.

Randita and InterceptPoint have done the groundwork on this concept, and I will link to the pertinent thread below.

Although the Josh Mandel race is not in the Top Ten, as determined by the experts, it is number 11, and is important for several reasons.

Foremost among them is that Mandel is for everything conservatives believe in, and his opponent, Sherrod Brown, has been named one of the eight most liberal members of Congress by the National Journal.

Mandel, now the State Treasurer of Ohio, has called for the repeal of Obamacare. He is for fewer regulations and less taxation, whereas Sherrod Brown has voted for Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, and the $831 billion stimulus bill. In fact, the president flew him back to DC when commercial airlines could not get him there in time for the stimulus bill vote.

Sherrod Brown has a 0 rating from the ACU, having voted against every one of the ACU's recommendations in 2011.

Mandel has received the Marine Cops Achievement Medal for his service in Iraq and has been endorsed by Jim DeMint's Senate Conservative Fund, the Club for Growth, Rob Portman, and Mark Levin, among many others.

Mandel believes "Israel is our best friend and ally in the Middle East."

As far as funding, Mandel has $5.3 million, behind Sherrod Brown by a million dollars, but he has been closing the gap as the funds pour in, and the polling has shown him closing the point gap as well.

Sherrod Brown is a Far left extreme liberal. Is Mandel calling him what he is? Too extreme for Ohio. Does not have Ohio values. Menendez D-NJ was using same theme in 2008 against Republicans with DSCC.

Defiantly will get my vote. Got to get rid of Sherrod Brown and I can think of no one better suited than Mandel.

It will be a pleasure to support USMC Josh Mandel. S. Brown needs to be sent packing!

Don’t forget your personal e-mail lists of conservatives, and ask them to forward to their list. Let’s start the chain reactions going!

Through MA, we're looking pretty good. VA through NM are in the Toss Up category at this point, so we need help to get them leaning GOP. From NJ on is Lean to Likely D, but could potentially become competitive if Obama support starts to crater so they need to be kept on the radar screen.
