More than 70 people were injured in clashes in Madrid on Wednesday as Spanish police used rubber bullets and batons to disperse anti-austerity protesters, witnesses and emergency workers said.

Protesters, including a group of miners who have marched on the capital, are demonstrating against Spain's government and the cuts it is imposing as it seeks to curb the country's debt crisis.

Hundreds of people quickly moved out of the area as police moved in, with witnesses reporting the use of rubber bullets and batons by officers.

Madrid's ambulance service said 76 people were injured in clashes at or near the Industry Ministry.

Ah, the end result of spending your way to prosperity, the 0bamaconomy way. And then the party was over, and the bill came due.

And then all those folks who liked a government check didn't like it so much when it was taken away.

Coming soon to a country near you. Only imagine...say Chicago instead of Madrid.

“anti-austerity protesters”

Maybe they are like Occupy and the anti-war movement, simply PRO-COMMUNIST?!!!

In Spain, I'd be shocked if they weren't. These miners groups are almost certainly openly communist.

Once Franco died the party was on. Spain was communism on the beach with pretty girls and discos. The problem with communism in Spain is that it's now run out of the German's money.

Boy, it looks like my trip to Spain was well-timed. We went in early May and the protests were just starting. Indeed, we saw one or two communist flags, but for the most part it was students and teachers protesting cuts to educatiom.

“austerity”

#####

More lying, spoiled juvenile propaganda terminology from the international BolshevikMedia.

Austerity = Reponsible, adult fiscal behavior.

Such injuries and riots could be easily avoided if people took responsibility for their own well being.

Oh well.

Ummm. Didn't the Spaniards kick out the conservatives a few years back to elect all these tax and spend liberals with Zapatero?

The people of Spain got exactly what they wanted, they taxed and spent, well spent and now the conservatives have to tax. What the people of Spain gonna do? Elect more liberals to dig the hole they're in even deeper??

They made their bed and now they've got up with fleas. Good for them. Blame the people who dug the hole, not the people who are trying to fill it up and fix things ya buncha low-grade morons!
