Tide turns against Law of the Sea Treaty
The Hill ^ | July 11, 2012 | By Julian Pecquet

The Obama administration's all-out push to join the United Nations international maritime treaty is just four votes short of being doomed after two more senators this week added their names to the list of lawmakers who have vowed to oppose it.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) are the two latest senators to sign on to the letter, The Hill has learned, bringing the total to 30. Treaties need a two-thirds majority to pass in the Senate, meaning 34 signatures would effectively kill it.

It only needs 2/3 of senators present to pass.

Even more despicable is that there are no American Democrat Senators that oppose it. Wonder if Zell Miller was the last real American Democrat? Where does Lieberman stand?

My thoughts exactly. Why would they even think of voting for it?

I see no advantage at all for the U.S. to joint it.

For some reason, the Members of Congress (Dems included) just do not realize the extent to which a yes vote will limit one's tenure in office.

The future campaign commercials against them could write themselves.

Mike Lee (R-Utah)
Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.)
Mike Crapo (R-Idaho)
Orrin Hatch (R-Utah)
John Barrasso (R-Wyo.)
Richard Shelby (R-Ala.)
John Thune (R-S.D.)
Richard Burr (R-N.C.)

Marco Rubio (R-Fla.)
Jerry Moran (R-Kansas)
Dean Heller (R-Nev.)
Pat Toomey (R-Penn.)
Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa)
Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)

There is a Rumor that Senator Graham has told Erick Erickson that he plans to vote no.

There is another rumor that Senator Johanns will be voting no.

If these rumors are true, then the opposition is up to 32. They need two more votes.

If your senator(s) is/are not on the list, call, write, tweet and spread the word to family/friends/Tea Party. Put some heat on them.

No matter what, KEEP CALLING, WRITING, FACEBOOKING, AND TWEETING!!!!.

Just like they passed ObabmaCare, the USSC upheld ObabamCare, the New World Order fascists in both parties wil make sure this bill passes and the UN gun treaty.

It must all happen before the 2012 elections are held, the 9 border stations being closed will allow the pre-election rioters to stream into the country so Marshall law can be declared.

Treaties need a two-thirds majority to pass in the Senate, meaning 34 signatures would effectively kill it.
The meme is strong and being pushed!

In case you didn't know, SMGFan, 2/3 of Senators present can ratify a treaty.

For example...
@ PROCEEDINGS AND DEBATES OF THE 106th CONGRESS, SECOND SESSION

S10667

The PRESIDING OFFICER. A division has been requested.
Senators in favor of the ratification of this treaty, please raise their hand. (After a pause.) Those opposed will raise their hands.
With two-thirds of the Senators present having voted in the affirmative, the resolution of ratification is agreed to.
Mr. THOMAS. I thank the Presiding Officer, the Senator from West Virginia, and the clerk.
By the way, just for information, these treaties were all approved by the Foreign Relations Committee on October 4 and 5.

2/3 of Congress wasn't there. Those present voted for the ratification. The quorum call was rescinded with no objection.
