When the US Forest Service was established there were less then 100 trees per acre, and now there are over 1,000 per acre, there has been poor management which has added to fire hazards and drought from the more trees sucking up more water before it runs off into watersheds.
Bump!
I’d personally like to see the national forestry folks disbanded and the whole acreage thing handed over to state forestry folks to handle...with a grant each year by the federal gov’t to pay for “maintenance”. I think the locals would have a better concept over how to handle their own resources and keep things safe or unsafe.
Moron Communists are proof Evil stalks the Earth.
Weren’t the New Mexico fires last year on land that BLM had that year closed to cattle grazing? Meanwhile, land open to grazing did not burn.
I agree- why does the US Gov own so much land? By what authority is this possible?
About which Bush did little more than empty grandstanding. The "Healthy Forests Initiative" did little more than fund greenie lawsuits and pretty things up along roadsides.
Poor management which has added to fire hazards.
True in the 40’s we had the conservation corp. to handle the problem.
